My baby is 6 months next week, Monday I started to wean him with vegetables broccoli & today he had potato, I put some sliced potato on his plate but he didn’t even touch that but did have some puree. But I don’t know if he’s ready yet. I know it’s all new to him but how do you know there ready? Do I just stick to it? Idk 🤷♀️

They don’t start properly eating until at least 7/8 months, and even then it’s not huge amounts. It’s all about trying new textures and flavours. Don’t stress, just keep offering a variety and they soon get it :)

There are signs you can look for. Your baby's first solid foods - NHS https://share.google/bukw9p9edkq6S4Gi2
I've just been to a session at my local children's centre which has talked about weaning and the way to approach it. See if there's anything like that near you.

According to NHS ‘guidance’, they should be able to sit supported with good head control. Some babies will begin to watch you eat or reach for your food, these are the typical signs I guess you could say but you don’t need to wait for baby to show signs, you can offer and take it from there. Breastmilk (or formula) is still their main source of nutrition for the first year and you can look at food as a bonus. The NHS advise baby led weaning but you can absolutely offer purées or do a bit of both. In terms of quantity and number of meals, offer baby their usual milk and then a little meal - once a day to begin with and then build from there. Probably 3 little meals by 9 months. You can do individual veggies first, then fruits, then mixed veggies, toast fingers with various spreads (banana/peanut butter/avocado), pancake slices or mini pancakes and then onto normal meals that you would prepare and eat minus seasoning. My first took about a month before she started actually eating any of what I put in front of her. She would maybe have one teaspoon for the first month, then one day it just clicked. I don think she wasn’t ready, she just needed the first month to learn how to eat.
