Can you tell me really how you feel if you have more than 1 child?

1 child was ok, 1 parent could take them out whilst the other was able to do something alone. But with 2 children that just doesn't really happen.

I work part time but if I'm not in work I am with my children and I feel so burnt out. There is always something that needs to be done, my brain is full of a million open tabs. Once they're in bed I can't relax as that's when I start my to do list. I just can't do half of it in the day as my children are either having a tantrum or hanging off my leg and I can't think straight until I'm in quiet.

It's just so hard all the time and I feel so alone in it.

I have three, I don’t regret three but there’s a few times week we’re in like shiiiit I have too many 😅

I take three out on my own all the time? I took three to Ikea solo yesterday, it was a bit chaotic but I got what I needed.

I’m burnt out AF but we had 3 years with no nursery or school at all and I worked for half of that.

My brain has a million tabs but I have ADHD and no space to regulate soooo I’m stuck for now, I’m trying to access meds but it some of the neglected tabs.

I'll be honest, when my youngest was younger and always strapped in a pram I would take them both out alone alot. My partner wouldn't though🙄 but I don't think I could handle it right now with the behaviour of my 4 year old!

How old are your little ones? Mine are 4, 2 and 9 weeks old. Luckily I have a present partner who is self employed so he takes over a lot with the older two and house chores. Weekends are pretty full on with classes and seeing friends and family. It’s chaotic and I always feel like there is a constant to do list of things I can’t keep on top of. I used to be a massive neat freak, I have had to loosen up on that and except a bit of toy mess and piles of never ending laundry. My older two have a lovely bond now and entertain eachother the majority of the time. If they do start bickering I try and let them resolve it between themselves which they have gotten pretty good at doing. I do step in if it starts getting physical, but letting them work it out together has made their friendship and bond so strong. I now find it easier having the two of them together as they keep each other occupied.
It’s the newborn that is the hardest because she hates being put down and she nurses quite often.

Fully relate. So over this already and wishing the time away 😅 Can't wait until my kids can act sensibly walking down the road etc and not be grief 😅 My 4 year old is starting to stay in bed when she's not ready to get up (her sister wakes her up) and I'm so here for that 😍

I feel exactly as you’ve described.
I love them to the ends of the earth, but my god do I feel touched out and overstimulated basically all of the time, I’m exhausted. I’m finding it a lot to juggle mentally and physically at this particular phase we’re in, and the fact my nearly 2yo seems to not need sleep at night is almost killing me off. I honestly think sleeping for any consistent chunks of time would do the world of good, but instead, I’m just less patient, less energy to do things, etc.
My husband could not do any more than he already does for them/me, which I’m really thankful for, but we don’t have a village to call on so there’s no respite really.

I have 3 but July baby is my youngest! I promise it gets easier when maxi was first born I felt like I was drowning as my middle one was 3 and I felt like all I did was keep them alive, take my oldest to school and just about keep my head above water and stop us drowning in dirty washing!

But now they’re older it’s much easier they can all chip in- even if it’s just putting their dirty socks in the wash! And they can all entertain themselves!

I had a big old meltdown this week cos I was over worked over stimulated trying to keep everyone happy make sure they all had costumes for there Christmas shows, their football kits were clean, the house was tidy etc etc etc. a dirty sock pushed me over the edge and my husband sent me out for a drive and him and the kids had a big chat about things and tidied the house, the older they get the more they understand, that’s actually no matter how hard we try we aren’t perfect! You’ve got this

@amie 4 and nearly 2, my partner does do a lot in the house and I've definitely loosened up on cleaning but it's all the mental load adminy jobs that fall mostly to me. What I find so hard though is not just the never ending to do list but that I find it really hard to cope with going to bed knowing I didn't tick things off and they roll onto the next day and there is already stuff for the next day😩

I'm glad you can relate. I had a big meltdown last night and I find when I feel so mentally drained that sucks all the physical energy out of me too and I stop doing things to look after myself like exercise and skin care.

So family admin absolutely crap, delegate it to your husband- the buts he’s capable of anyway! I was doing all the class chats, parties, football, other clubs, my work stuff etc. I don’t go to football training so why am I relaying the message? That’s a dad job now, birthday parties if it’s middle son he knows them Better so he does those parties I add him and remove me! I do the school stuff cos I’m there everyday so it makes sense but if they need a volunteer to take the girls football team to a tournament he can do that as he has flexi working times! I tried doing it all and I couldn’t I’m not a super human if some balls can be dropped and it’s not going to have a detrimental affect on anyone drop them!

Is it bad of me to think this or no?

My husband has been abroad for work (1 day and exploring for 1 day) for 2 and a half days which means I’ve had both kids (1 year and 4 year old) for 2 and a half days plus cooking, cleaning, taking them to clubs, bedtimes!
He came home late afternoon and said I’m so tired, I just need to chill. I said can you wash up whilst I sort kids dinner out, he said he’ll do it later which means he won’t do it and I’ll end up doing it so I said no do it now please otherwise I’ll end up doing it and he said well you have been home and I’ve been away so you’ve just been relaxing.
Don’t know what planet he is on but having the kids alone for 2.5 days is not relaxing. I was stressed!

When he was away, I did miss him and wanted him to come back but now he’s back, I want him to go away again😂
Is that bad?

Feeding

My son is coming up to five months and I just started giving him oatmeal and rice cereal. When can you start trying veggies or fruits? I only give him the oatmeal or rice cereal once a day right now which is what the paediatrician had said to do. I’m just curious to when anybody tried anything else with their kids cause my son eats a lot of formula and he’s VERY curious when I eat.

Really bothered by this

A friend posted this and it really bothers me because that is exactly how she parents her kid, and it's rather unfortunate because when our kids hang out together, her kid has a meltdown at least 5x within an hour. We have know them for years and it's only gotten worse. My kids will concede to hers, because they don't want to see their friend crying, but it sucks because they give up so much of their toys and enjoyment to keep the peace. We aren't hanging out as much anymore but it's rather sad to think she doesn't intervene more in her child tantrums and just let's it slide

Is this normal

Let’s say you’re at a softplay with your 2 year old, and some friends & their toddlers.
You buy your 2 year old a kids meal - chicken nuggets, beans, and chips. They’re very happy with it and have almost eaten it all.
They’re sat at the table, fork in hand, consistently eating, and have one chicken nugget left.
Your adult friend comes over from behind you, picks up the last chicken nugget, and eats it.
There was no indication that your child wasn’t going to eat it, and they didn’t ask. They just took it with no warning and ate it right in front of you and your toddler.
How you reacting?

Shift worker daddies - advice please?

My husband works shifts (6am-6pm days or 6pm-6am nights) so when he’s on shift we either get about an hour or 2 before he goes to work or an hour or 2 when we gets home with him.

I don’t think people who aren’t married/have babies with shift workers fully understand the impact of feeling like a solo parent sometimes.

Does anyone have any advice? I do have parents who can help but I struggle to leave my baby with others as I always feel like they don’t understand the need for tracking wake windows or feeds and our baby will not sleep unless we black out a room or go for a car drive . Everyone seems to think ‘if he’s tired he’ll drop off’ - no he’ll just get overtired and have to then pay for it during his night sleep. So I feel like it’s just easier for me to do it all myself.

When my husbands off work he is great but I do take the mental load of telling him what to do or even reminding him of wake windows etc because he’s not here and forgets routines. He’s also being tested for ADHD currently so there’s that on top of shift work.

Just looking for advice on how to stay sane/keep routines or share loads with shifts workers?

Thank you ❤️
