Talking as in sentences? No. Mimicking words? Yes. Starting to try to piece together 2-word phrases? Yes. Naming objects? Posssibly.

My son (also 17mo) says mommy, daddy, bubby, Mimi, papa, hello, night night, and bye see you tomorrow. He doesn’t name objects yet, but he will try to repeat something if you have his attention.

My daughter was saying numbers, letters, colors and other words and short phrases by the time she was this age. But when it came to actual talking and forming sentences, it was all gibberish until she was 2. Then it was like a switch flipped.

My advice, don’t get caught up on time and milestones. Everyone learns and progresses at their own pace. Just keep talking and narrating everything (even if it feels silly), read to her lots, and flash cards are fun. Educational/informative videos aren’t all bad either

Still so young. By 2 it’s suggested they should know around 50 words - if she’s babbling and saying dadda then don’t worry it will come. Just keep repeating everything to her, they are like sponges!

Every child is different. My 18 month old only says a handful of words right now but my oldest was the same. I pay attention to the progression if by two they aren’t saying any more words or aren’t progressing then that’s a concern. But if you notice progress slowly each month then I wouldn’t worry
