Hi all, I don’t have many friends with kids beyond Reception age, and I didn’t go to school in this country, so I hope the group can help me. What’s the etiquette around Xmas gifts to school staff? My son loves all his teachers and TAs, and in the nursery I used to give gifts to his room workers for Xmas and leaving nursery. It was things like coffee shop vouchers, hand creams, chocolates. Do parents give presents to teachers at school? Ours is a whilst state school. We have a collection through PTA to all class staff to which I contributed but not sure what to do on a personal level.

So we do a collection per class and usually do a voucher and a bottle of something or mini hamper. Some parents do a little gift each too! We usually wait until the end of the school year and get a special gift then x

When I was a reception teacher I used to get given Christmas gifts from many of the children, and exactly as you say, typically chocolates, coffee vouchers, wine etc. I’ll be doing the same for my son’s teachers.

So is a bottle of wine acceptable? I mean alcohol. We don’t have any members of staff who are obviously Muslim, etc., otherwise I wouldn’t consider wine. I know I love a good bottle of wine as a work gift!

I hadn't even thought about it 😬 we didn't go to the school nursery. I thought just end of year, feel bad now.
If we take alcohol which have done recently for the fayre raffle, it has to go to the school office xx

Our class are doing a collection! Not sure what we will get!

My daughter's class are all putting together and getting flowers for the teacher. And all the kids are drawing a picture and we are putting them into a card.
