I’m 37 now and 3 miscarriages in after having my first child easily 4 years ago. Ive been referred to a fertility clinic and I’m doing tests but I’ve read only 50% of people find the cause after all the testing 😞 feeling defeated already and I can’t tell if it’s because there’s really not much hope or I’m just being too negative. please share your journey/ experience good or bad

I had two first trimester and one second trimester loss before having my son last year. We never found a cause, but my pregnancy with my son was pretty unremarkable. Often, first trimester losses are due to embryos that the body recognizes as incompatible with life. Have you and your partner had any genetic testing?

i had 3 miscarriages in the space of just over a year and then whilst waiting for testing fell pregnant and had my son (i was prescribed baby aspirin and progesterone) and currently 30 weeks pregnant with twins and not needed any interventions to get to this point

Currently 24 weeks pregnant after 3 consecutive losses all before 9 weeks, so not a live birth yet but this is the furthest I've got. I went to the NHS recurrent miscarriage clinic and privately looking for answers and none were found, however I think I potentially figured it out on my own (with the help of some people on these groups). I used to spot before periods which I was always told wasn't an issue as when progesterone levels were tested on the standard CD21 and even in early pregnancy they were always normal to high. However I think they were dropping drastically in that period around implantation, causing the spotting and causing any pregnancy to not be able to get off the ground. Even when progesterone was introduced week 5/6 of pregnancy I still lost them - only starting it from CD21/a few days after ovulation this time made the difference. No spotting and baby is still here and growing. Probably not relevant to you but just wanted to share. Wishing you the best of luck.

thank you that actually might be an issue for me, I don’t spot before periods but I do have a very short luteal phase which could indicate a progesterone issue, It’s good to know I should take it from right after ovulation if I try it next time

I had three miscarriages in first trimester. My second loss the hospital offered to test the placenta for abnormalities as they were suspicious of scan and I did get a diagnosis of triploidy for that baby. The others were not tested. I had care at recurrent miscarriage clinic and only thing that came back positive was slightly sticky blood which I now take aspirin for. Whats really interesting is we went private for male testing. We got lots of expensive tests that showed low morphology, and high dna fragmentation. The embriologist said that coupled with my age (36) means my older eggs will find it harder to repair the fragmentation in the sperm dna and that will be a leading cause of miscarriage for me. My partner went on proxeed for 8 months, we were suggested to do IVF with zymot. But got pregnant naturally, using a fertilily which I think was key. Now at 10 weeks praying to get over the 12 week mark with no issues. If this ends in miscarriage I think ivf with zymot is next step
