It’s a long way off as I’m not due to may, but I’ve been doing the paperwork for my maternity for work and got me thinking about childcare when I go back, anyone work shifts which means the days they require childcare move each week? What’s the best time of childcare for this? Are there nursery’s that are adaptable or is it better going with a child minder?

Nurserys will take children for the same days each week...they wouldn't be able to manage staff and keep track of when the kids are in otherwise ... I'm not sure about childminders but I'm pretty sure it would be that they'd do set days too because they'll have regular children who go and they can't be out of ratio either etc

There are things such as ‘24 hour nurseries’ which run to help shift workers but I don’t think they are that common unfortunately! You could always ring nurseries/childminders in your area and ask the question, but I’d think that they can’t be that flexible.
My friend used to work shifts and she had to do a mix of babysitters and families help. In the end she submitted a form to her work for fixed days. Legally employers have to consider requests for child friendly hours and days x

You can apply for flexible working for work. I asked for set days each week.
My partner will do all the collection and drops off though as I start to early and finish too late.
None of the nurseries I visited would do flexible days unfortunately.

Your best bet would be to submit a flexi for set shifts/ days. It’s very unlikely you’d find formal childcare that could accommodate days flipping around every week.
Or you could use family/ friends if they’re able to help you out x
