How do you know when it’s time to transition to three meals a day? My baby is 7 months old and has been starting solids since he was just over 5 months old (as per dietitian advice). We were on two meals a day but the last week or so he doesn’t seem as interested in his milk during the day, he wanting his food, but is waking up for two feeds after he’s gone down for bed which he didn’t usually do. Is this a sign he’s ready to add a third meal? I wasn’t sure whether to keep him on milk mainly and try fill him up with this but it doesn’t seem to work! Even when he has his usually 700-800ml plus three meals he’s still waking up for a feed. So should I keep him on three small meals a day? He is teething too but is loving his food! I also don’t know if it’s just a bit of a growth spurt/sleep regression stage!
Thanks!

I also started solids "early". I have a 19 month old now. I would say follow your baby's lead. If he'll take more food, feed him more. Just know this will mean more solid poop and more intense teething. Your baby can have mostly food with milk as desired or vice versa.

It gave us both a bit more independence, which is a nice bonus

My boy went on three meals a day at 7 months old, as per the health visitors advice. He was still breastfeeding around 5 times a day as well.
He used to wake once for a feed, But once he was on three meals he dropped his 11/12 pm feed that he would wake up for and started sleeping through. He’s 13 months old now and is still sleeping through. 3 meals, 2 snacks to replace two breastfeeds and then still on 2 breastfeeds a day as well. (First thing before breakfast and before bed)
I would get them on three meals a day. But milk is still their main source so watch portion sizes an always offer milk first as they still need that.

We're following the guidelines of 6-8 months = 1 meal, 8-10 months = 2 meals, 10-12 months = 3meals,1 year plus = 3 meals plus 2 snacks.
So far worked really well.
