Hey all! I am trying to figure out what my OB meant by wait 18 months till second pregnancy. Ngl I am over thinking it but I am confused so please don’t judge!
I had an emergency c section in Sept my ob told me to wait 18 months till next pregnancy.
Does that mean in March of 2027 we can try again for a December 2027 baby? Or in March of 2027 I can give birth saying we conceived in June 2026?
Thanks in advance!

Wait 18 months simply means after 18 months you may consider having another pregnancy, sections altogether are difficult on the body but emergency ones are much harder due to the speed and intensity.
I had an emergency one and a tear on my uterus due to how quick they had to do it so I’ve been advised 24months at least but generally it’s 18 months that’s advised to give to give your body time to heal

I just know mine said to wait 18 months I assumed before conceiving again as that’s how long it takes for your organs and other muscles to be back in place ready for a second pregnancy that was how it was sold to me 😆 may be completely wrong with that. X

I had 2 c sections I think they just let us know we have to wait the 18 months. I am currently 27 weeks pregnant got pregnant 3 months pp my 3 son will be born a week before my second sons birthday 🫥

I’d say that it means you can become pregnant at 18 months pp because that’s when your body should be healed properly enough to carry your whole pregnancy. The concern is that your uterus isn’t healed enough to carry to term since it’ll have to grow and stretch out to hold baby and all the amniotic fluid. I got pregnant when I was 18 months pp and had a perfect pregnancy with my second and had another c-section too. Second one was planned and I feel like I healed much quicker than I did with my first. It wasn’t considered “emergent” but it did save my daughter’s life so I think it was and the doctor just said that to keep me calm. It went very quick, I was in and out of that room within 15 minutes so 🤷🏻♀️ with the planned c-section it was much more lax and they took their time. They even played music and were talking while taking my son out. Interesting experience but I enjoyed it 😂

I had an emergency c-section with twins. And got pregnant again 4 months later. I had no complications whatsoever. Not during or after. Had a repeat c-section which went flawlessly. Recovery was better the s come time around too.

I wasn’t advised this but there might have been a good reason why they said this from your specific surgery. So you could check with them. But I have been told since that there are risks within the first 2 years of your scars not being fully healed so that’s why they prefer you wait. It doesn’t mean something bad will def happen just that the risks are there.

18 months between births. So you could start trying in June 2026. This is why I was told and many other people I know too.
