Recovery with a 2 yr old

My last birth didn’t go well and ended in an emergency C-section, the section itself also went quite badly.

I’ve planned to do another section second time around as I want to have some sort of control over it. However, I’m terrified of recovering with a 2yr old and how hard it’ll be.

Does anyone have any tips? Success stories? Anything really!

My son was older (just turned 3 years) when I had my planned C-section with my second baby. Recovery was much easier than I thought it would be. I would recommend having some support around you the first few weeks if you can though, mostly to help with your toddler. My partner had the two weeks paternity and then was luckily able to add on an extra two weeks annual leave so I could focus more on baby and my needs. He would take him out if I needed to rest and he would get him dressed etc. When he returned to work after 4 weeks I was completely back to normal except I still didn't feel comfortable picking my eldest up, I felt more capable of this from the 6 week mark. I did tell my son about the C-section and I showed him my scar so that he understood that I was hurt (but healing) to put boundaries in for him not to climb on me or put pressure on that part of my body.

My son was just short of three years old and I told him that mummy had an operation so she needs to rest and he needs to be careful. It worked well and my husband had three weeks off with us and took care of my toddler and nursery drop offs etc so that everything stayed as similar to his routine as possible whilst I was out of action xx

I had an emergency c section with my second, my eldest was 19 months old & I would say I had support around me for the first 3 weeks but then managed to do a little more each day but really listened to my body & didn’t push myself to hard. We managed to extend my partners leave to three weeks but on the third week he went to work on the two days my little boy was in nursery & I just stayed at home with our youngest.
I think the key is too not push yourself too early, I would also have my feeding cushion around my tummy if sat on the sofa as felt this gave me protection if my little boy was a little too boisterous

Had my second baby in June this year, my first was turning 3 end of July (very energetic and chaotic boy though) and it wasn’t anywhere near as bad as I thought it was going to be. I was in a hospital with an infection aswell so recovery took a bit longer, but my partner was around for the first 3 weeks which was a massive help

I gave birth the beginning of the month and this is exactly my situation. My little boy who is very caring but on the go. If I’m honest I think I found it harder not being able to do all the things he needed then he did. Talk to him about baby and your tummy will be sore a few days before and then I was just in a way he understand honest with him that mummy has cut on her tummy ect do you have a support net work ?

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!

Anyone else’s owlet pi##ing them off ?!?! It goes off 5/6 a night saying it can’t get a reading and needs a snug fit. My baby is 8 months old so moves a lot. It is driving me insane and I keep end up taking it off!!
