Im currently 36+4 and set to be induced on Wednesday at exactly 37 weeks! I’m type I diabetic and have been for many years. This is my first pregnancy and my sugar has been 80% in range and my entire pregnancy has been very uneventful. I never even got morning sickness. I’ve been very on board with induction at exactly 37+1 all this time but now that I’m closer/ basically here I feel like I can hold him in for longer for his own benefit.
He’s been perfect at every scan, every NST, he’s measuring perfect. If anything a little on the smaller side at 5.10 this last ultrasound. But they also didn’t say that, I just hoped he would be around 6 pounds at birth.
I’m just wondering if anyone else has been induced at exactly 37+1. Part of me wants to ask to keep pushing the date back but other parts of me are scared of a sudden, emergency issue.

I was supposed to be induced at 37 weeks on the dot but the I went to my one high risk appointments (I got ultrasounds weekly with MFM) she wasn’t moving, her heart rate was low and she wasn’t doing her practice breathing so they sent me to L&D where I got induced at 36+5. I labored for 24 hours but the pitocin stopped working and the epidural made both me and her heart rate/ blood pressure drop way to low so they did an emergency c section.
As far as her health afterwards, she came out breathing perfectly by herself she was perfectly healthy! They did take her to the nicu only because at first she wasn’t pinking up and then she had some trouble regulating her blood sugar, but it didn’t take long for her to get the hang of it and everything else was great! She left when I left the hospital and has been doing great ever since. She is now a week old.

I would keep holding out at least until 38 weeks. I had diabetes in pregnancy and they kept pressuring me to get induced ever since I was 37 weeks and I kept refusing until I was 40 weeks. I completely regret it though, I should’ve just let my baby come naturally. All up to you. This is my opinion only 🩷
