SD calling the baby names

My 5,5 year old step daughter said this morning ‘the baby’s nuts’ and I said what do you mean, she said ‘the babies being nuts today’ the baby was tired that morning so a little fussy. It felt mean, like name calling. There have been a few other things, snatching toys of her, telling her to stop touching something when SD is in fact playing with the baby’s toys. Am I being over sensitive, is the ‘the babies being nuts’ name calling or just a 5 year old being silly?

Look at this objectively. At the age of 5 dos she has the vocabulary to say something more intuitive? Baby’s are unequivocally NUTS! They are intense, insane, emotionally consuming.
Kids snatch and take and do things as adults we wouldn’t do - but she’s 5. Guide her. Show her and be kind. If she oversteps the mark or does something dangerous then intervene and have sanctions. Other than that they sound like normal siblings xx

Yes I'd say you're being over sensitive. Kids of her age just say what they think with no filter. I wouldn't think 'nuts' is particularly unkind. If she'd called the baby ugly or horrible then maybe, but you said yourself baby is having a fussy day and that's her way of expressing it to you

Calling the baby nuts isnt that bad, you said the baby was fussy etc and its SD way of trying to describe how the baby was. My little cousin would call my daughter crazy when having a loud cry.

The snatching etc isnt nice but its just teaching the child not to and having consequences for thay

It's pretty normal 5yo behaviour they have no filter🤣 my 4yo constantly tells my youngest he's stinky or a pain in the bum haha

The snatching isn't nice, but again... normal! It only gets worse when the youngest is old enough to snatch back and you just spend your days refereeing haha!🤣

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

6 month old autistism

My 6 month old makes no eye contact with me and doesn’t respond when I call him. Can this just be a phase or personality trait as apposed to autism

Baby with chronic congestion

Hi everyone! My 1 year has been a congested baby since birth almost. She breathes through her mouth so often that it wakes her up multiple times at night and she cries and screams and then struggles to go back to sleep. She wakes up every 1-3 hours and sometimes can’t go back to sleep for 2-3 hours!!! Piriton is the only thing that seems to help her sleep mostly through the night but I can’t keep giving her that!!
Does anyone have tips as to have I can do or give her? Has anyone experienced? I have no idea when I’ll get an ENT appointment and I have no idea what he can give a 13 mo :( we are desperate for sleep so any tips are welcome!! We have tried steam inhalation, saline drops, vapour rubs and everything off the counter basically!

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?
