I’ve tried almost everything to clean the smell of the cat pee out of the car seat(vinegar and baking soda, washing it, soaking in soapy water, hydrogen peroxide) I’m not sure if I didn’t realize at one point and it sat and now the car seat is just garbage or if it’s able to be saved. Anyone have any helpful tips or do I just go buy a new car seat.

make sure you’re washing it in COLD water and letting it air dry. heat will lock in the smell. i would soak in vinegar & baking soda solution over night, wash it with detegergent, baking soda & vinegar. use the pretreat cycle on your washing machine if you have one and let it air dry. if that doesn’t work i’d buy a new one

You need an enzymatic cleaner. These specifically will break down uric acid crystals which is where the smell comes from. Vinegar / baking soda solutions will work sometimes on fresh stains, but not one that's set in.

Wee away is the best one, a few coats, left to dry between each and then dab it with cold water and a dry cloth!

Apple cider vinegar and you may just need a new seat if it’s that bad. It is usually easy to wash strong cat urine out of the fabric via washing machine with A/C vinegar but the plastic part may be done for. We never could get our cat’s pee out of vinyl or plastics or carpet. It is easy to get out of cement, and fabrics that can go in washing machines & I have a cat with extremely high uric acid containing urine, so we’ve dealt with the worst of the cat pee. Thankfully we haven’t had accidents except by the box on cement at this house in the basement. I use Nature’s miracle spray on the cement.

On top of what everyone else said use ozone machine for the car, kills all the organic smells by chemically binding them even if deep in the seats. Just make sure to follow all instructions as it’s not good for living organisms, the car needs to be properly cleaned before and aired long enough after. It did wonders to my car. People successfully get rid of smoke smells etc with this

Ngl I drenched mine in a bathroom cleaner that had bleach in it, it was a spray and I sprayed over and over again scrubbing and re scrubbing it cause I had to get the smell out or I was fucked because I can’t afford another car seat, i used that and also sprayed it with a bunch of other smell good sprays and other sprays I found around the house and the let it sit, didn’t put her in it for a while to let it air out and then re scrubbed it with soap and water, I didn’t know specifically where on the car seat they had peeded but after I did that I didn’t smell it anymore

A lot of these suggestions probably aren’t allowed per the manufacturer’s instructions and could compromise the safety of the seat, unfortunately.

My cat peed on a car seat and it thankfully didn’t seep into the styrofoam or I think the smell would’ve been impossible to remove. I just removed the cover and washed it and wiped down the seatbelts and buckles

Is it urine or cat spray?

Call the manufacturer and ask

Have you tried cat litter? I've not tried it on s car seat but it can remove the damp smell from fabric if you put it in a bag together.

Honestly I’d get a new seat

I had this issue and the best thing was fabric conditioner spread liberally over the seat and allowed to dry before being repeated. This happened to my car about 10 years ago and you'd never know.

with these things you need to act immediately else the smell will linger especially cat pee!! the fumes from the pee irritates the lungs of especially younger children . i’d get a new seat i wouldn’t want my baby sitting on a peed car seat. this is a hygiene thing not a wash it and hope the smells gone so the pees gone.

If you’ve already washed it it’s probably stuck depending on the temp of the washing machine. I made this mistake and had to throw £500+ worth of clothes away because the smell stuck. I should have washed them in the sink in cold water. So annoying. The dryer is a big no no too apparently
