I’m a first time mom who gave birth 5 days ago (vaginal, second degree tears) and today was a bit of a reality check for me…
I have been feeling really good the last two days and thought I was up to doing some light housework and being able to go up and down the stairs a few times a day, but today I had a clot scare (smaller than a golf ball but big enough to freak me out) and now I’m not sure what is and isn’t ok anymore. My impression from the doctor at discharge made me feel like I would be ok to do semi normal activities (I may have misunderstood her), and I’ve felt pretty full of energy and little to no pain.
I’m a pretty independent person, so even though my husband is super supportive and willing to help with anything I need, I don’t like just resting and want to be doing more.
How long after giving birth were you doing more normal activities?

Hey there! Also a FTM and had an emergency c section which considerably changed my recovery timeline and anticipated birth plan, but similarly, was surprisingly feeling more mobile and able than expected!
I resumed normal activities within a week but I also was very mobile and active throughout my pregnancy which I think helped in my postpartum recovery!
I think biggest thing is to monitor your bleeding down below and check in on your energy levels. I learned quickly that the adrenaline of it all does wear off and then depending on how baby is sleeping, the sleep deprivation will catch up! So lean on others where possible and let your partner pick up the things you’d normally do (harder said then done!)
