Baby obsessed with labels??

Anyone elses baby obsessed with finding labels on toys, bibs etc and chewing them? I have had to cut all labels off of things for safety. I am wondering if this is common or an early sign of neurodivergency? (There is diagnosed ADHD in the family)

My son does this too! So hoping it’s just a normal baby thing 🤞🏻

My little girl did this and she’s two and thriving!!
We got her a little blanket that you can buy online with lots of pink, fun labels around the blanket so she could play with them

My little one does and my habit since being a baby is playing with labels it is a comfort thing when I'm tired. Nothing to be concerned about xx

Also at one of our baby classes all the babies play with the labels on the mats they use x

my babies loved tags on anything so i ended up on amazon and got her a taggie blankie and it’s been her favourite ever since

My sons done this since quite young and nearly 2 still does it! I bought him a taggy toy of amazon, he puts his fingers through the tags to fall asleep! I think its just comfort🩷

My little boy is obsessed with them, also is his 29 year old dad 😅🤦🏻‍♀️

Avatar

This is very common, pretty much all babies do it, my 2 year old still does

This is so reassuring to hear! I wasn’t too worried about it, but did wonder whether lots of babies do it 😂 Does anyone know why labels hold such fascination for them? (Also secretly hope that this means LB will be very helpful with the laundry shortly, seeing as how he’s ‘read’ the care labels on everything…)

Calm down! They're silky and babies like that. There are tonnes of toys with specific bits on them that are like labels because most babies enjoy them. They're not dangerous.

Please relax!

My little boy did this as a baby, at 2 months I ended up cutting a few off of things and sowed them to a muslin - it came his comfort blanket, he’s now 3 and still has it to comfort him and for sleep xx

Mine love sucking labels, I think as long as it stays attached it probably isn't dangerous

Avatar

i read somewhere that labels are the one consistent inanimate thing in a babies development
they are on everything, thats why the make soothers specifically with tags because they are familiar and safe

Avatar

Most babies if not all love them- it’s the texture of it or something that they are attracted to…we have adhd in the family though haha

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Hi ya'll

Is anyone else's 4 month old randomly screeching now? I'm not sure what to do and she's been doing this for the past two days. She's usually a quiet happy baby so im not sure why she's doing this now. Aby suggestions?

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.

Did I overreact?

I have had 3 c sections, recently had a wisdom teeth removal (4) to be exact and all my mom did was visit the day BEFORE and then she only sent 1 text. She has NEVER spent one full day with me and doesn’t acknowledge my achievements much. She just isn’t there when I need her to be. She claims she’s always working but she lives like 7 minutes away! she can come help with the kids so my husband can have break? we don’t ask her for much and she only sees the kids 1-2 a month. She also didn’t visit with my last c section. I told her that she should’ve gotten the abortion when she had the chance with me because why would you have me and neglect me emotionally? To not actually give me a present father in my life. I am very angry all she does is disappoint me. She only wants to show up for certain people in the family and I just want to grab her and shake her and ask her why can’t she be a good present mother?
