How to find a pediatrician
Hi Seattle peeps! How have you all navigated finding a pediatrician? I grew up going to a family doctor that saw every member of my family and it seems that’s super hard to come by these days. I’ve mostly been in the Swedish network since moving to Seattle but even with their doctor search it seems like no one is taking new patients. I’m also in South Seattle which seems to have way fewer options than north of lake union. Any tips or recommendations?
Edit to add: I’m actually calling clinics to availability! They don’t even seem to offer waitlists. Found some availability in Ballard or further north but trying to avoid a 40 min drive for every appointment. Is that unrealistic these days? If anyone is in South or West Seattle and has a doc they like, please let me know!

I don't know about the swedish system but Kaiser has lots of pediatricians taking new patients. I really like the doctors we've seen in Cap Hill and Northgate. If you have the option to switch to a Kaiser plan I highly recommend it.
Have you tried calling clinics instead of using the online tool?
I called like every pediatrician in like 10-15 mile radius everyone was accepting new patients but no one took my insurance ended up with one in Bellevue which is very inconvenient since I live in Seattle but what can you do 🤷♀️
Hi Liz! Our pediatrician is part of the Harborview group! We love them!
I’d suggest using the search engine on your insurance portal, which should allow you to filter for in network options in a prescribed radius from you. Often it also has a filter for accepting new patients.
Maybe look a little further south near Valley Medical Center?
Our kiddos are with Allegro Pediatrics and we love their group, multiple locations, they even have urgent cares. We tried other pediatricians to get closer to where we've moved when we have moved over the years but our favorite was always with Allegro so we stopped trying other providers and went back with them for their care and availability.
Local moms fb group help me find ours. Try that.
We use Valley Children's Clinic. We love it and it's in Renton area. Our doctor is Megan Eitel but everyone seems great there. Highly recommend!
Have you tried Swedish west Seattle pediatrics? We love it there
I got SUPER lucky and the pediatrician who came to see my first in the hospital after he was born just became his pediatrician. Then he became my other kids pediatrician by default. We drive all the way to Edmonds for pediatrician visits because we love the clinic so much. He isn’t accepting new patients however I have seen other providers at several of the Swedish campuses and I’ve been very impressed with them!!!
