Hi everyone!
I found out on Saturday that we’re expecting twins!! It’s been a bit of a whirlwind few days as my toddler also ended up in hospital on Saturday night and we only got back home yesterday so I’ve not really had a chance for it to properly sink in yet. Nonetheless, we’re so happy and so excited, but already feeing the nerves.
At the scan, I was expecting to measure 7+5. It turns out that Twin A was measuring at 8+1 and Twin B at 6+6. Both had good strong heartbeats. The sonographer told me to get in touch with my midwife as they may want to keep an eye on the size difference, but he didn’t sound too concerned due to the heartbeats looking good. My midwife also said extra scans weren’t necessary at this point and it’s normal for them to measure a week or so apart at this point.
Just looking for reassurance from any twin mums who may have experienced similar. Did everything turn out ok if you also had this? Also, Twin Bs sac looks really small in comparison to A. Is this normal? The sonographer didn’t mention it and I didn’t think to ask at the time, but I am a bit concerned at the vast difference between them.
I am going to book another private scan in a couple of weeks but just need something to help my head spinning in the meantime.
I’ve attached a pic of the scan so you can see what I mean about the sacs.
Thanks in advance ❤️

Congratulations!
I have DCDA boys who measured a week apart throughout - they’re almost 3 months old now and are absolutely fine! Twin B was my smaller boy during pregnancy, but actually came out a pound heavier than his brother!
Try not to worry, you’ll have more scans with it being a twin pregnancy so any concerns will be picked up and addressed quickly (if any!) x

I have had twins

Congratulations mine have always measured a week or so apart they are now 5 months and twin 1 was 7lb 6 and twin 2 was 5lb 8 dcda girls x

Looks like they’re fraternal so different sizes isn’t usually a concern. More concerning with identical twins

My twins always measured around d a week apart! It’s entirely possible for DCDA twins to have been conceived on different days and implant on different days too. Both boys are not healthy 14m old.
They were born at 37 weeks based on the larger twin weighing 7lb 14 and 7lb but the smaller definitely acted more like a 36 week bat so I am very convinced they were conceived a good few days apart

Hey! We too found out and was shocked to hear our try for baby number 3 is actually going to be 3 & 4 (a lot of oh fu*k moments were said 😂)
We too had one measuring a week to about a week and a half smaller but they weren’t concerned they just changed my due date accordingly to the smaller one and are tracking me based on the smaller one
We have our 12 wee nhs scan next week so I am just desperately trying to get to that milestone for more reassurance
We found out early it was (non identical) twins due to having to have early scans via nhs due to previous issues so it was a big big shock at 7 weeks! 😳
Hope you are feeling ok, I’ve found this pregnancy nothing like my previous and I just feel so ill constantly x

Congrats!! I had the exact same thing happen. One twin was alot bigger than the other my entire pregnancy. I had boy/girl twins and Both healthy. I stressed about it my entire pregnancy and wish I didnt so here's your sign to not worry too much 😊
