I had my 12 week scan this week & baby looked fine. They said the fluid on the neck was 6.4mm but there’s also fluid around the head, back & abdomen. Cystic Hygroma was mentioned along with Hydrops. I have been referred to a fetal medicine hospital for another scan. Hoping people can tell me their stories - good or bad.

Hi, first of all so sorry you’re here ❤️ i remember how awful that 12 weeks scan was.
Just a trigger warning that my experience is a bad news story.
We had 6.8mm NT, 3 x cystic hygromas & hydrops. We opted for diagnostic testing, I had an amniocentesis at 15 weeks which confirmed our daughter had Turner’s syndrome.
Our 20 weeks scan confirmed other problems with her brain & heart, so we unfortunately had to make the decision to end the pregnancy at 22 weeks.
The fact you’ve been referred to fetal medicine is great, you’ll get to see an expert. They may offer to do a CVS at your appointment which is another form of diagnostic test, so worth having a read up on it before you go. You can also ask for the NIPT test (if you’re UK based) which is a non-invasive test.
Just to add, I connected with a mum who had a similar situation & she now has a healthy baby boy, all the hygromas resolved on their own.
Totally happy to answer any questions you have.

Hi lovely, my daughter had a smaller NT of 4.2 but had septated cystic hygroma. She is now 18 months old and completely healthy. The CH resolved by itself.
There’s lots of forums online with stories of all varying degrees of NT measurements, CHs etc and there’s good and bad outcomes. I hope you can get some more clarity from your scan with fetal medicine ❤️
