Hi, I am day 5 into my breastfeeding journey. My milk has come in I think. My midwife weighed my baby today and he had lost 10% of his weight so is getting reweighed tomorrow.
He feeds off of both boobs but struggles to latch and it's often a fight, I have been told by the midwife to swaddle him and this helps with the fight. I thought he was getting enough food but clearly hasn't been. I started pumping after feeds last night and one boob has considerably less milk supply than the other.
He has now not pooed in over 24 hours and has only had 5 wet nappies in that time.
I am getting upset trying to figure out how to be feeding him, is it best to move away from formula or keep going?

Losing 8-10% is pretty normal weightloss after birth for baby. It’s 12-14% that the nurses get concerned and would push topups/formula. My boy lost 12%, I triple fed so I BF, caught from Hakaa, feed the topup from that which is usually an oz and then I woke up 5,7 and 9am to pump also I sacrificed sleep in the first few weeks to start a freeze stash and up my supply. He still took 3w to get back to birth weight, I pushed on w the Bf coz I was also giving him topups of ebm until he was full I was willing to sacrifice sleep to up my supply instead of going w formula. The poop is pretty normal, some EBF babies don’t poop every day. It was a slow start for us but he chubbed up and got rolls at 5m
