My little one is 4 months old next week. We’ve bathed him in the same tub in the same way since he was born.
The previous time we bathed him he was so distraught when we put him in the baby tub that we had to give him a sponge bath.
Today he couldn’t even tolerate a sponge bath and was screaming the place down.
I’m not sure what we did wrong! He was due for his feed, so perhaps he was tired / hungry. It is summer here and the aircon was on in the house. The water temp was lovely and warm for him and the same temperature it is every other time.
How on earth have we gotten to this point and does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this aversion to water?
Thank you

Not totally sure what could be going on for him, but in our case if the temp was even a tiny bit warmer, or if she was due a feed, or a bit overtired, then she would flip and need to come straight out. Once we worked that out for her she absolutely adores baths and is hilarious at splashing the water around.

Could you try sponging him with a dry sponge first to see if the issue is with the texture of the sponge rather than the water or simply just to normalise it?

Is he laying/sitting in the tub? Don’t have anything he is on in the tub at all??
I found when my boy got to about that age I had to use a different bayh aid to have him in the bath then when he got to about 6 months a bath seat

Could be multiple things. I would try to always start a bath after they have been fed and digested a bit so they are happy and not hungry. Second thing is to put a muslin over them in the bath to keep the warm water on the and expose less skin to the cold air. The third thing that helped us a ton in the beginning was putting a heating pad on a low setting on her changing pad so she was warm being changed before and after the bath. Also making sure it’s a quick process and the water is warm enough, I always make sure the waster is 100 degrees F when I draw the bath so it’s as warm as possible. Hopefully this helps I would say if it continues as his Dr.

I got in with my baby ! Safely held her lfor shower and showed her the water and got in the tub with her for baths. It made it more fun for her and she loves water
