Lingering Jaundice

My little one was born at 32 weeks and is now 40 weeks corrected (8 weeks old). He still looks jaundiced in his face and is very yellow in certain lights. He’s been checked for prolonged jaundice and we have been told everything is ok. They said because he’s breastfed, it can take longer to clear.

Has anyone else had this experience? How long did it take for it to properly clear for you? Thank you!

My little one was born at 34 weeks and is now 9 weeks old (3 weeks corrected) and we have had a nightmare with his jaundice due to me and baby having 2 different blood types.

Back and fourth to the prolonged jaundice clinic, multiple blood tests and even a liver scan which we are still awaiting results. My little one doesn’t look jaundice at all anymore, and his bloods have come back okay.

I was told because they are prem and their liver is still very immature it can take longer for them to clear it.

Sorry I can’t share more of an insight but share your concerns!!

Hiya, my little one was 36 weeks premature, had extremely bad jaundice! I would say probably about 2-3 months it really started to clear I was breast feeding as well. My little ones did keep coming back though but it it makes you feel better he’s 6 months zero issues with this.

I would just advice you to keep an eye on it, if you personally feel like they are looking more jaundice I was always advised due to knowing what is normal for my baby to take them back in to be checked.
