I’m having a hard time getting my son weaned. He’s 2 in June and I’m ready to get him off of me. I’ve been trying to get whole milk in his diet but he doesn’t like it. He still nurses in the early morning and occasionally after his nap.
I did the same thing for him as my daughter but he hasn’t taken to it.
At 12 I introduced goats milk then 15 months whole cows milk. Recently I even tried low fat milk. He just takes a sip and spits it out. I’ve tried cold, warm, warm with spices in it (cinnamon, cardamom types. no sugar though) my daughter weaned herself at 19 months and has loved whole milk since. He eats very well! He has 3 full meals a solid snack and a pouch or smoothie before bed. He drinks a lot of water too. I’m not sure how tall he is right now but he’s maybe 5 inches shorter than my 3.5 year old and 27lbs.
Here is an example of a breakfast he has regularly (he even had a second egg)

The only kind of milk that is safe at a year is whole milk nothing else. I had to just tell my first no everytime he wanted the breast and he eventually understood

My second never drank milk after 1. She hated it. Her pediatrician was completely ok with it since she was eating full meals, a lot of Greek yogurt and cheese. She’s now 5 and is thriving, healthy and athletic.

I was also told as long as they’re getting enough calcium from other foods, it’s not a must for cows milk.

Pea protein milk is good too. Give it a try. My baby hates cows milk, but does well with pea protein milk.

He doesn’t need milk, if he has water it’s ok. It’s 2 dairy sources a day so if he likes cheese then that should be enough. You can give him things with milk in too like porridge or rice pudding etc

My son didn’t take to full fat blue topped milk so we use semi skimmed milk (green top) as full fat was upsetting my sons belly
