Help

I’m so mad and frustrated. My partner told his mom she could pick up our son to bring him to his grandmas and didn’t tell me. Now I feel like I’m the bad person for not wanting that to happen. I don’t know what to do. He’s 3 months old and i feel like they should come visit instead of him being picked up to go there. They’re not bad people, idk if im just anxious but now i feel like im stuck

Talk to her! That’s not right your husband said that and that his mom wouldn’t just ask you- at 3 months baby SHOULD be with mom unless mom okays it for a few hours(appointments or whatever). Just because someone has raised children doesn’t not mean they will know your child. 🥺 You know your baby best. You decide what’s best and you have a right to feel upset over this not being discussed with you and just sprung on.

You’re not a bad person for not feeling ready to have your baby away from you at 3 months old- I feel the same way. I would talk to your partner about how you are feeling (especially for not discussing with you first) and have him talk to his mom and invite her over instead and reschedule a baby visit there for further down the road when you and baby are more ready. Or if you are comfortable with it you can talk to her directly. She was a mom to a young baby once too so hopefully she will be more understanding than you think but even if not, it is your baby and you can set any boundaries that you are most comfortable with. It is not unreasonable, babies this age still very much rely on their moms for comfort and still do not even fully realize they are separate from us. Trust your instincts mama 💕

If it makes you feel better we had a visit planned last week for my mother in law to come over to see baby and I had my husband reschedule it with her because I was just too overwhelmed that day from a night of little sleep and a baby going through a tough phase. Even though I felt bad, I did what was best for me and baby that day and she understood. I hope it goes well for you too ❤️

I think in any relationship doesn’t matter if the child is 13 years old, he should always consult with you before making a decision of taking your child somewhere without you present. That’s just clear communication. I’m trying to make my partner understand that because he invited his mom to our house for three weeks without consulting me first and I was very bothered by not being in the loop.
