Hello I’m due my second child beginning of September and I work in a school and have a consultant appointment July 29th to discuss my birth options. Just after advice on when to start my maternity leave as if I take it before I won’t get paid for the 6 weeks holidays and not sure if my hr will be available during the 6 weeks do you have any advice for me? As I don’t know when I’ll be taking maternity leave until that appointment

I also work in a school. With my first she was due September 5, a couple days after term started. I was advised by my school hr not to start maternity and try to come in for at least 1 day of the new term. Anyway she made an appearance at the end of August and I just emailed to update them and my maternity kicked in from her birth date. I would just have the conversation with hr and see what they say.

Also work in a school! Ask HR what their availability will during the summer, I know with my HR they send out an email prior to the summer break and there is usually at least one of them on site or with remote access to our system

I feel like sometimes if you ask my hr you don’t get a response from them at all. But I will do that thank you for all the advice
