Toddler friends

We don’t really have any friends that we see regularly who also have babies of a similar age - so I feel my LG doesn’t really have ‘toddler friends.’ She goes to nursery 3 days a week and has friends there that she talks about regularly, but we don’t know their parents and she doesn’t see them outside of nursery. I was thinking of throwing a second birthday party but tbh it would just be adults, so I’m in two minds. I’m starting to feel really guilty that she doesn’t have ‘friends’ yet. Is this normal? Should I be doing more? Anybody else in a similar situation?

I'd say we are in a similar situation, we dont have friends with kids of a similar age & since having our son we just dont see our friends anymore, only a handful of times a year. We will just have family round for his 2nd birthday and take him somewhere fun for the day and on the weekend. I do feel abit guilty/gutted we haven't made a network of friends with babies a similar age, we did go regularly to play groups etc, it just never happened x

In the same situation but I'm ok about it he has plenty of friends at nursery. And it means another year without having to organize a party once they start school I'm sure we will be doing it every year. This year we're taking him out on the day to a farm Park and having family round for a small gathering at the weekend. He will be spoilt enough by them it will be plenty. Don't feel guilty!

We are the same I guess. We have some friends with toddlers same age but they live a bit further and we see them every 3 months or so. I think they are still a bit young and they ll soon start forming stronger friendships at nursery and we will be able to connect this way. At least this happened with my older son who has had a bestie he keeps speaking about day and night since the age of 2. They came over yesterday to play. I met the parents when I invited them to his second birthday after I was told they are close. Nothing similar with my daughter yet but hopefully soon.

Mine doesn’t go to nursery.
Mine goes to activities between 4-5 days a week with other kids tho and she’s only now becoming a little more independent with this. All the kids her age seem to play solo.
Whenever she’s with my mates kids who live further away she gets on with them well.

We are the same. But to be honest I decided to be selfish about it this year.
It might be the last year he will actually enjoy more spending time with us rather than his friends, so I won’t feel guilty about him having just us on his birthday:)

It’s all just parallel play at the moment anyway, he is not at the level of communication to form bonds with anyone other than us/family at the moment
