How long did it take you to feel mostly done I know realistically your probably never done I just moved in my house five months ago. I barely have furniture. I barely have decorations, and I’ve put a lot of effort into this. Blah

I pick one area of the home first and I decorate as pretty as I want it to be 😊 after that’s done I move to the next area bc decorating is expensive.

About 1 year or 2

Don't rush it! Most homes are over-stuffed with junk. Get the basics and the things that are relevant to your family right now. You'll amass things as you go. Use your kid's art for decoration. They will love to see their work displayed.

Like a year. I replaced everything coz we moved into a newly built home. And I wanted things to match. As in matching pots and pans, matching dinnerware, matching towels. I don’t like the odd different looking mug, does my head in. When I open my kitchen cupboards it still looks cohesive in there. Unstacking dishwasher is much easier when all the plates and bowls are the same etc. and then I focused on smaller things like my spices- got 30 jars and labeled them. And my garden etc

It is your choice. I rather do it slowly as I want to get only stuff that (1) I really love or (2) something functional while I find that special something that I really love. This is a way to get a home that has a personality and the process takes several years, given we have busy lives.
You could also do it fast for the sake of getting it done. But I have the impression that the homes decorated this way fall into trends, feel lifeless, don't have a cohesive look or look like catalogue shopping.
So don't put pressure on yourself. Take time to think things through. And remember that when you have small children, your needs will change quickly.

Years! I've been in our house for 5 years, I'm constantly changing things too, like 2 years ago something else was functional, we just about finished the room and then we change it to fit a new need/phase 🥴 I've resorted to, it will never be done! Not with young kids in the house anyway
