nervous for induction

hey february moms! if you’ve had your little one by now just know i’m so jealous lol. my due date was the 28th, and since my little one is measuring on the larger side we’ve opted for induction this week (which i’m not super jazzed about). i’ve only been about 3cm for the last few weeks, and cramping / contracting has been mild. yes i’ve been pumping, curb walking etc.
does anyone have any positive induction stories, or helpful advice you can share with me?

Following. Due date was 28th as well and nothing yet other than a ton of false labor. I'm absolutely miserable and in a lot of pain but no contractions and about 2cm. Calling tomorrow to see what we can do 😭

I had my January baby with an induction- 2 weeks early on a growth restriction. They started me with cytec and that didn’t do much, they then stated the Pitocin. I went from 0-10 in 12 1/2 hours. i slept through most of my contractions. and never asked for the epidural until i was 8cm. but i was too late as i went from 8-10 in less than 2 mins. I know MANY people say they did not have great experiences with inductions, but mine was amazing and i couldn’t have asked for a better delivery. my prayers are with you and baby !!

I was induced with my first baby. Was given a cervix ripening pill and my contractions took off on their own the rest of the time and didn’t need any other medication or tools. He came within the 24 hours of being at the hospital!

Went into natural labor with my second 3 weeks early. Since my water broke on its own they used pitocin to help my contractions to get him out. Pitocin contractions were mild at first and of course as I dilated more they were very painful. Got the epidural and contractions continued closer together. Gave birth to my 2nd with being at the hospital for 13 hours.

Hi! My due date was 2/26 and I went in for my 39 week appt last Thursday and was sent to the hospital because of slightly elevated BP. Fully expected to be checked out and sent home but instead they decided to induce me. Mind you, I was doing a TON to initiate spontaneous labor so induction wasn’t even on my radar. Babygirl is now here and doing wonderful.

My advice would be:

Do your research on Cervidil vs Cytoctec so you go in knowing what you want. I opted for for Cervidil since it could be removed if babygirl didn’t tolerate it well. Make the choice that’s best for you mama!

Cervical ripening can also lead to dilation! I thought since I hadn’t started pitocin I wasn’t dilating so I lasted as long as I could without an epidural and was in serious pain. Little did I know I was 7cm just from ripening and wish I would’ve asked for it sooner.

I ended up induced with both babies. First baby water broke at 40 and 3 but I was only 1 cm and 50% effaced so I received cytotec to ripen. Ended up getting the epidural and we were both healthy.

Baby 2 went in for my 39 week check up and I had a decel during the NST. Got sent to L&D expecting to be sent home but fluid was low and cord around neck induction was recommended. I received cytotec again 2 doses. I remembered to breathe through the pain and rocked through it. Also got the wireless monitor so I could labor on my side and move as needed. Epidural worked like a charm. Once complete I felt a little pressure and pushed 2 times and she was here after 2 min.

I had to get induced due to high blood pressure, and it was my first baby so not only was I super nervous for delivery, I was also nervous because I feel like every induction story I had heard was negative. I have nothing bad to say about my experience! Childbirth is hard & tiring, induction or not. I have no other birth to compare it to which I think will make the second time easier! I was 3cm dilated for about 2 weeks & was doing everything the internet recommends to induce labour, including multiple cervical sweeps. But my body and baby just wasn’t ready yet. I went into the hospital one day because I just felt really “off”. Thank god I did (always trust your gut!!) because my blood pressure was through the roof, no prior issues in the pregnancy at all. They told me it was in mine and babys best interest to get induced, and I was disappointed because I had no intentions of getting an induction. But, ultimately baby and my safety was most important so I went forward with it.

I was also SO done with being pregnant. (Remember that during your contractions!)

I did cervidil, and 12 hrs later I had consistent contractions. When I got to the hospital, my contractions were 1-2 mins apart and about 40 seconds long. After some hours of that, my body decided to want to slow down, so contractions became more spaced out. Eventually I opted for oxytocin & then got my water broken. That moved things along QUICKLY. I went as long as I could w/o the epidural but once my labour “transitioned” I was like ok I’ll take the epidural now! Pushed for 30 minutes and baby arrived. My advice would be even if things don’t go to plan - try and stay positive and remember your health and safety as well as your baby, is the most important thing. Your birth plan very well might change, and thats ok. You’re going to do great, and it will be so rewarding once you get to meet your baby!! ❤️

I was induced a week before my due date since my little guy was big and I wanted to avoid a C section if I could.... had him in less than 12 hours, but asked for the epidural pretty early to make sure it had plenty of time to take effect. They started with pitocin and fluids, but then used the Foley balloon (they gave me a little morphine for that one, it can be pretty uncomfortable placing it). Honestly I slept a lot off and on throughout the day. Once it was time to push, my contractions were less than a minute apart, pushed for maybe an hour and a half total and he was here

So in my experience induction was a nothing burger. It just took forever. Pitocin and the catheter are what saved the day. Otherwise I probably would’ve been 1 cm dilated for days. Epidural hurt going in but my advice, don’t look at the needle! It’ll freak you out. Have someone distract you. And get it BEFORE you’re writhing in pain!

I was induced with my son and my daughter. This last induction was a dream. Contractions were manageable with the Cytotex and I was offered an epidural before Pitocin. Only labored 8 hours, pushed for 2 minutes and she was out. Barely felt anything and I have bad pain tolerance. We wanted to go home a couple hours later 😂
