I had a miscarriage in December just before my 12 week scan.
3 weeks ago, I got my first period after miscarriage and it has been HEAVY. I'm talking soaking through pads in minutes and passing huge clots.
This part has passed now but I'm over 3 weeks in and it's showing no sign of stopping any time soon.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I keep getting told the first period after miscarriage is notoriously heavy, but this seems ridiculous. When it was at its worse, I couldn't even leave the house for fear I'd bleed everywhere, which I've never experienced before, even postpartum with my daughter.

No, please go get checked out. My period after my miscarriage was like a usual period for me, not heavy at all.

I agree with Nikita nothing different after a miscarriage. Soaking through pads that quickly isn’t right. How big are the clots?

The biggest clot was probably the size of the palm of my hand. The excessive bleeding has stopped now but I'm still on my period 3 weeks later.
When I did talk to a doctor, they said it was normal to have a heavy period after loss so long as I wasn't unwell, had a fever, severe pain etc..

That sounds like a whole other miscarriage to be honest

I'm really sorry for your loss and that you have been experiencing this. It may be worth visiting your early pregnancy unit at the hospital for a check just to be sure. I had excessive bleeding after a miscarriage that was medically managed. I had retained some pregnancy tissue and my body couldn't clear it which is why I was bleeding for so long.
