Requesting a sweep

Hey everyone! So I had my 39 week appointment today (I’m 39+4) and I requested the sweep. However, they have now told me I won’t be able to get a sweep done until 40+5 because they don’t offer them until 40w and they haven’t got many appointments. Is this normal? If the sweep doesn’t work they have told me the next step is induction at 41 weeks but I want to avoid this 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

In most healthy pregnancies they wait till 40W they only do sweeps inductions etc if your high risk I asked for induction at my 38 week appt because this pregnancy my Hypermobility and pelvic girdle pain was real bad and my midwife agreed but it’s only at 40w or later

That’s crazy because my obgyn did 4 sweeps and I was induced at 39 weeks as I had GDM but she started sweeps at 37 weeks and I was there twice a week

you can refuse induction! don’t let them pressure you into it for no reason

unless there is a medical need then you don’t need to be induced xx

Yea this is a country medical care difference. In the states they allow sweeps as early as 37 weeks.

I was told today that they only do sweeps from 40 weeks

I’m 38 weeks and I’ve just had a sweep today of my hospital x

They can give you an earlier one if your consultant agrees on it - mine agreed I could have one from 39 weeks.
