Post vaccines

Hey! So, my 4-month-old had his first vaccines today (we delayed them a bit), and he was totally fine at first, just slept a lot. But then, like six hours later, he suddenly became inconsolable. He's usually such an easygoing baby, and now nothing seems to calm him down. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a normal reaction to vaccines, or could something else be going on? I feel helpless, Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

My boy was fine after then he took a nap a few hours later and the aching must have set in as he became really unsettled. Did you give calpol? That would be my best advice for you, every 4 hours until he goes to bed x

Yeah, would say it's normal. It's probably from the needle, so baby has sore thighs. Do skin to skin, calpol, lots of cuddles x

Hey, they defo are a bit grumpy afterwards but with mine it was more when doing her nappy. But defo keep an eye on his belly/poos as the rota virus can cause problems and defo worth getting him checked if he seems in pain with his belly x

Probably normal unless he’s still inconsolable in a few days time, they generally will make them a bit feverish and the injection sites will be sore and achy. Mine was okay on the first ones and he is normally a happy easy going baby, poorly from the second and then fine for the third ones so hopefully if your second are bad too your third will be okay. The nurse said they generally don’t really get feverish from the third ones but still possible. Just lots of calpol cuddles and naps are a lifesaver if they’re tired and have a fever and the calpol will make them a bit drousy too so it’ll help with the pain and they can sleep through the irritation x
