Gestational Diabetes

I was told I had gd at 36weeks, but because I was 36weeks that i couldn't do any testing as I had surpassed the testing point.
Baby is measuring big on growth chart and have been booked in for a csection.
Did the baby get tested and how often when born? And does the mother get tested again after birth to ensure gd has gone?
Many thanks

I think it can vary by trust, but I (would have ) been tested every hour in labour, but my labour was an hour so only happened once. They then randomly tested me after birth and before discharge. Baby got tested twice before feeds. Then due to have blood tests with the GP X

I had an ogtt at 26 weeks (pass) and 38+6 (borderline). Got induced the next day at 39 weeks as baby measuring big. I got my finger pricked every hour once I was on the drip, bloods were fine every time! My son got checked twice after he was born and also fine. I need to arrange a blood test at my postnatal checkup to check there is no diabetes now and like Franky said every year after due to lifelong higher risk of diabetes, yay šŸ™ƒ

I was checked once after, baby twice before feeds. You should then be checked again at 6 weeks and then annually

I had it during pregnancy diagnosed at 29 weeks. I had to prick everytime I had a meal and take metformin morning and night. I got induced as at my trust you can’t go past 39+6 if you have it. During labour I couldn’t have sugary sweets ect. My baby was always on the 99th centile chart all throughout- I was showing very early (bump wise) he was born 39+4. He weighed 8.4! Afterwards baby got tested after his feeds. his came back perfectly! I got tested and was fine, I had to have a blood test afterwards at 6 weeks to confirm it’s gone and I think it was 20/40 which was really good. I now have to have a blood check every year to make sure I’m not diabetic as having gd increases your chances of getting actual Diabeties when you’re older x

I got diagnosed with GD at 38 weeks and my baby was born 3 weeks ago. I had to test myself until he was born via planned c-section at 39+5. He was 99th percentile on growth scan and born at 95th percentile (9lbs 4). He was tested twice in the 24 hours after birth via heel prick although if h they had to redo it a couple of times as the blood clots too quickly (all fine, didn’t even cry) and I had to continue using my at home test kit until I was discharged 24hrs after birth. All our readings were fine. I’m booked in for a blood test at 5 weeks to see if the diabetes has returned or I’m still in the clear.

Tested me before baby was born to make sure I wasn’t too low

Myself I had to test the next morning before and after food
Baby was tested twice after birth to make sure sugars was okay
a blood test 3month after with the doctors then annually after that

7th October baby! 🄰

Our 3rd and final baby arrived on Wednesday by planned c section! 🄰 We had a suprise gender this time as we already had a son and daughter and we welcomed another baby girl to the world šŸ’– feeling incredibly lucky!

Love seeing everyone’s announcements!

When did your second baby arrive? Sooner or later than the first?

My first came spontaneously at 38 + 3, immediately after a Taylor swift concert. I had a section booked for 39+6 so caught us off guard. But we never had to wonder when or overthink every symptom thinking could this be it.

Today is 38+5 with baby number 2. Only started mat leave a few days ago and I’m so bored already. I feel like I’ve done everything on my prep list. Really hoping this baby doesn’t come late. Statistically they say 2 days earlier than the first.

Potential pre eclampsia

Had my 40 week midwife appointment today and my blood pressure was above the threshold I think she roughly said 144/94 and also a slight amount of protein in my urine. She rang triage to get their opinion but they are currently on divert due to being so full, they said it is borderline so just to keep an eye on symptoms over the weekend. She took bloods from me today and I’m back in to see the midwife on Monday to get results, recheck BP and potentially get a sweep. I am quite nervous now though as I was planning a vbac but have my pre op for c section booked in for next Friday If spontaneous labour doesn’t happen. They don’t seem overly concerned which should be reassuring but I am such an anxious person I can’t help but sit here panicking. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

This is so weird but…

Does anyone else feel like their baby is gunna drop out when they crouch down

I’m due end of December and I feel like my baby is sooo big already, this is my 3rd child and my eldest is only 3.5 so quite small age gaps, I have a midwife appointment on Tuesday so will definitely bring it up

Baby 2?

Trying to decide if I’m ready for baby 2 or not. Current plan is to start trying in Dec, but I can’t help but think my baby is just still a baby even though he’s nearly 2. The guilt is real!!! Anyone else feeling the same way? I don’t want to have a huge age gap and I’m also conscious of age! (32)

Worried about birth

This is my 4th time being pregnant, I was first pregnant at 17 and then 18 but lost them. I had my son at 19 and I currently just started the second trimester which is making everything so much more real. I know that having my baby is still months and months away but I’m scared. When I had my son I almost died from blood loss because of hemorrhaging, and my l&d nurse told me that the next time I would give birth it could be a lot worse. I just am worried.
