MAM Bottles and sterilising

Hi I have a couple questions. I have the MAM newborn bundle of bottles. What are the different bottle sizes used as in when would I need the bigger bottle? (Baby is due next week, I plan to BF so cleaning them just in case I need to use formula)

I know it says UV sterilisation is not recommended but has anyone used a UV sterilisation I have the Nuby one.

Thanks

We're using tommee tippee steriliser and bottles but we're also using Milton sterilising tablets as we'll need to put loads in the steriliser

The smaller ones are just for when you’re doing up to 5oz, I don’t think there’s any reason other than for smaller amounts, so you could use either size bottle from the start. That said of course check the teet size and make sure you are using the appropriate size.

don’t get loads of the small ones and you won’t use them for long, waste of money. X

I use the tommee tippee UV steriliser, it makes the bottles discolour after a while x

I have used the nuby UV steriliser and mam bottles for the last 6 months and it's absolutely fine. Must smaller than most sterilisers so less intrusive on the kitchen side, and so quick and convenient to sterilise!

You can sterilise the bottles in the microwave, one at time. If you check the package it will give you the instructions on how to self sterilise the bottles (it's a quick and simple way). As others mentioned, don't buy too many small ones as your baby will require large amounts in no time ☺️ once you move to the next size up, I would recommend buying more (4 to 6), and you can get the MAM steriliser that goes in the microwave (it takes up to 6 bottles). Amazon sells it and it's not that expensive. This is my experience, I haven't tried with an UV steriliser so I can't comment on that. Hope it helps !

Uv is not recommended for big items like bottles.
And you'll use the smaller ones until bs y starts drinking larger volumes of milk. This could be between 3/6 months

The smaller bottles will have a slower teat for when baby is younger, such as size 0 or size 1. The bigger ones have size 2/3. What we've done is just buy the bigger bottles and then buy the smaller flow teats separate and change them back to the bigger ones as baby got older. Works fine and cheaper.

I have this same set. I wanted to exclusively breastfeed but are having to top up with formula at the moment.

My baby girl is one month old and we were using sizes 0 and 1 but we found 1 was too fast a flow for her and she was spitting up less when we used 0 so have just ordered a pack of 0 size teats off amazon.

We wash in hot soapy water and then put in UV steriliser

Just a follow-up to the question above - is getting a bottle warmer worth it? Also, does it have to match the brand of the bottles for the perfect fit (so basically +1 product of the same brand)?

My baby is 6 months and I still use the newborn ones on occasion when she takes a small feed. Every baby is different with different appetites (mines a snacker - little and often) so I wouldn’t go buying loads of bigger sizes until they’re regularly drinking a full bottle in whatever size you have.

We got loads of free little mam bottles from our private scans and once he was taking 5 ounces we bought the 9 ounce bottles with teat 2 and just bought teat 1’s for it we also have the bottles that come with teat 3 but it’s the ones you don’t have to take apart apart from the lid and teat, it just seemed more cost effective he didn’t like the bottles that weren’t anti colic with the rubber in the bottoms so that’s why we needed up buying the 9 ounce ones with the teat 2’s in x

Wdy think of this for a toddler to learn word construction?

I'm open to anything else to start teaching him to read and write. He's 3!

Do men really enjoy fellatio?

Been together more than 10 years, but it's been a while since he even seemed remotely interested in me getting on my knees, or vice versa so to speak. I think it was once last year. Must be something I am doing wrong 🤔. Generally everything else in that department is great and we have two young kids with no extra support, so it's quite surprising we can't keep our hands off each other but may need to try new things. It's basically 2 positions each time with some foreplay.

Naps

How is everyone doing for naps?

Little one is 9 months old and will have 2 half hour naps and one solid 1 hour - 2 hour nap a day

Then settles for night around 9pm. Wakes for a feed around 3:30 then sleeps until 6-7

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Pumping advise

FTM to a 2 week old! I’m breastfeeding and then giving one formula bottle last in the evening before bed. I want to start expressing milk to give me some breathing room and also allow my partner to be more involved in feeding. I’m finding the idea of introducing pumping into my day quite overwhelming though. I don’t want to take milk away from my baby by pumping if he needs it during the day when being breastfeed.

Can anyone advise how I start pumping and when to do it? Thank you!

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.
