Newborn waking every 1.5hr at night?

Hi, first time mom here, exclusively formula feeding. I have a 6 day old baby and she sleeps 3-4 hours per stretch during the day with no fuss and feeds 70ml on average, but at night she’s a lot less settled and wakes up crying every 1.5hr-2hrs, showing hunger cues, but she usually falls asleep after taking around 40ml refusing more milk, only to then wake up and repeat the pattern again later. Does anyone have any advice? Will giving her a pacifier when she stirs stretch out the feeding interval more or will that make us miss hunger cues? Much appreciated!

It’s completely normal, at this age she’ll likely still have her days and nights the wrong way round.
You could try waking her up sooner in the daytime and keeping it very light but essentially you just have to ride it out until she’s figured out days and nights.

Totally normal sadly mine was the same - eventually they get their day and night the right way round but it takes a few weeks. Hang on in there 💪

Avoid pacifier use as it will mask hunger cues. It's biologically normal to wake overnight, because that's when the levels of hormones that make breastmilk are highest. Even if you're not breastfeeding, your baby (and evolution) don't know that, so baby will wake frequently to stimulate milk production.

Both my babies were swaddled and had a dummy worked wonders. My baby girl is now nearly 3 months and only wake up for 1/2 feeds.

This is totally normal baby behaviour. She's 6 days old!
