Second day post section

Hi all - I had my c section on the evening of the 17th so I’m on my second day of recovery. Yesterday I felt pretty good and was walking round the ward, with some pain obviously but it was manageable and wasn’t getting to me. I came home last night so 24 hours after section but today the pain seems to have got worse. Just feel much more bruised and achey. Was this the case for anyone else, that it got worse before better? Thanks

It got worse before it got better for me, but after 5-7 days it started to feel more manageable. Keep up with regular pain relief , I really noticed when I let this slip. Good luck x

8 months pp here, I had an emergency c sec. Without the stronger hospital pain relief, I found it got worse. Have an alarm set to go off every 2 hours and switch between paracetamol/cocodamol and ibuprofen, thats what i did and it made it so much easier! Honestly the first week is absolute hell, but it gets better! You'll soon be walking about like nothing ever happened

You'll be moving around more, supported in bed differently and likely not as on it with the pain meds. Stay rigid with pain meds and rest as much as possible. I promise it will improve xx

The stronger painkillers work off after a while and then it does get worse anyway as you move around and it heals up. Take regular pain relief even if you feel you don't need it.

Once the anesthetics fully wear off (usually after 24hrs), the pain intensifies. I personally found day 2-3 to be the worst. As everyone is saying, pain meds, rest & don’t overwork yourself. I did find being mobile (walking short distances when able to, even around your home) significantly helped my healing process.

Took me three weeks to be able to walk without being in excruciating pain. Go easy on yourself. Your pain will also depend on the labour before the section xxx

Like everyone has said, the pain meds from the hospital last quite long. They wear off on day two.
Being consistent with taking painkillers of several kinds will help. I found paracetamol did nothing but ibuprofen together with it helped. Be mindful the codine or codemol will give you constipation. Make sure you keep taking the laxatives, even a little after you think your bowels are moving again. If they didn't discharge you with any, get some asap. And until you get some, take senna tablets.
Otherwise you give yourself another problem!

Whenever possible, get someone to help you get in and out of bed. Before you get up from a chair, engage your pelvic floor and muscles, breathe in as you stand. Wait for 10 seconds before moving off. This protective movement will help you feel more confident about moving through pain.

Do active babies in the womb become active newborns?

I had my 40 week ultrasound yesterday (on my due date) and the doctor mentioned how active my baby is. Curious as to your experiences regarding if your baby was active in the womb, are they likely to be active when they’re newborn? 😊

Small bumps

I have a really small bump, at 27 weeks pregnant. People keep commenting on the fact my bump is so small and its starting to worry & get me down. Has anyone here had a small bump with a baby that weighed measured average size? Its really worrying me! I have a 30 week scan and one at 37 weeks because im on a moderate pathway - had a gastric sleeve in 2023 so its to check she is growing but as the comments are coming im now panicking where I wasnt before 😫

Early Labour?

I’m 34 weeks today, since 3am I’ve been having irregular cramping which becomes quite intense and has caused me to vomit. I’ve also had diarrhoea. Could I be in early labour or could I just have a bad stomach? I feel generally well in myself

When is it ok to start running again? Health visitor advised to wait longer before running but did anyone start at 7 weeks and how?

Movements at 31 weeks

Does anyone else feel like their movements are more subtle since being further along in the pregnancy? I can feel my baby moving inside my belly but I don't feel the movements as "strong" when I put my hand on my belly. Not sure if it's because they've changed from "kicking" to "rolling" movements.

Anyone else feel the same?
