Hey mamas. Do any of you experience painful intercourse nowadays? Like I’m not talking a little discomfort, I’m talking like I’m almost in tears it hurts so bad. Idk if that’s normal being pretty fresh postpartum or not..?

Unfortunately, yes. I went and got a check because i felt like maybe my stitches had scar tissue or something. But she told me I had very "angry dry patches" inside 🙃 she recommended a lubricant suppository to use daily and it really did help.

At first it was painful and I think it’s because everything was trying to go back in its place and your hormone levels are normalizing. It will eventually get better as time goes on. The 6 weeks after birth without intercourse can be hard but it’s necessary in my opinion so it doesn’t hurt as much

Yes! Pretty painful feels like rug burn. I would say use lube and take it as slow as possible. Also if you look it up it has alot to do with our hormones still making things tight. Cervix has been closed for a long time and dry. and our hormones are still working in the same capacity for a while. I found it got better 4-5 months PP. but in the beginning it was pretty rough. Be patient with yourself.

Yeah for me wetness isn't an issue, it's more like I'm closed up so tight and nothing will help it relax. Incredibly painful. I was told to schedule an appt with a pelvic floor specialist and have been doing excersizes from online.

I have found that doggy style is very painful but other positions are fine usually

Definitely try different positions, lube, and actually get warned up first. I know after a while you stop doing foreplay like kissing and rubbing and stuff, but it usually helps me so I'm more "loosened up" I guess. If I'm not warmed up, it can definitely feel painful. Just have lots of communication and let them know what's not good and what is better.

With my first it hurt for a while after, lube helped a lot! But after my second it felt normal like before I gave birth the first time. I didn't need stitches the second time, so I think thats the difference.
Although honestly for the longest time I thought maybe they had added an extra stitch without telling me with my first (they never told me how many they did just that it was a 2nd degree test and they did a continuous stitch). Because even with lube it still felt pretty uncomfortable and like a little too closed, and after having my second and not feeling the same this time, it makes me think that even more.

So relieved I’m not the only one . I’m 4 months pp and it hurts so much . We have been using lube but it still doesn’t feel normal . I thought something went wrong since I did tear while giving birth .
Hope everything works out .

Also 4.5 months pp and find it very uncomfortable and sometimes downright painful still! Had a 2nd degree tear and things definitely feel “too tight” down there now. My husband and I have a running joke of calling it “pinchy time” now because I told him it felt pinchy one of the first times we did it (and honestly still does a lot of the time even with copious amounts of lube and being warmed up first). Sometimes it’s at the opening and sometimes feels more internal so idk what’s happening 😓 Also glad to hear I’m not alone.

I'm not the only one
