Potty training help

So update: I’ve gone the last 2 days nappy free/boxers when out and about and he’s only had 2 accidents and have weed and pooed on the potty 🙏🏼 fantastic start!

So my little boy will be 3 in July. Hes quite stubborn, but a very quick learner. For example, he knows his basic colours, but when asked says everything is blue and laughs. Whenever I ‘suggest’ we use the potty he says no, but will occasionally say he needs to use the potty and just use it. He has a baby brother who is now 4 months, so I’ve been a bit slack the last few months. But grandparents have been making comments, so I think it’s either now or never.
Nursery have suggested I just keep leaving the potty out and let him do it as and when he wants - is this the best way because we aren’t making much progress.
Do I just go reward base - everytime he goes he gets a chocolate etc? Do I just remove his nappy one morning?

The older he gets, the more stressed I’m getting that I’ve left it too late 😅
Picture of him and his brother so the post doesn’t get lost 😅

Mine wins the same he’s 3 in July start over a week ago and he hates it at first, we just leave the potty out and he does go now took a while but he will only go if he has his full bottoms off, so we just leave him without out on while we are at home but this week now he’s used to it going to start showing him how to pull his underwear etc down. Just takes time

My son was the same. One day after he came home from nursery he decided to just sit on it and I took the opportunity to commit😅 I had to stop doing the reward thing because he would just sit down and not use it and expect something and I don't want to teach him a bad habit because sitting on potty should be just a natural thing. But if that's your last result it's worth a try and just slowly cut it out over time. The most important thing is don't stress him or yourself out because you're just going to go backwards. Some kids just take a little longer and that's ok. Just communicate that with the nursery and see how they work around potty training as well and see if they can support you. Having a nappy off worked for us and we slowly started introducing underwear and then trousers on top of the underwear and we're still working with the underwear. He still has accidents because he thinks he has a nappy on. Xx just try it out without the nappy and see how it goes. Just have a mop handy😅

Might also be worth him seeing you go on the toilet and explain to him you're going potty then he might want to copy you x

My little boy is 3 28th July and we haven't even started 🙈 we used it once but found he wanted to sit on it for fun for hours and then nursery he just freaked out about going so we stopped. Now time is getting on and im like shall I?

Have you got books about potty training? I just tried to make it fun with books and potty songs. I also seen these potty training pants so thag when they wee/poo its uncomfortable and thags what makes the connections in the brain and how they learn. Maybe ask him if he wants to choose his own pants? Xx

Once you start you gotta commit to it. No going back

I did the naked method and my son was trained in a week with only one accident. I started a month before his birthday right after the holidays

Every time he went, we would do a potty dance. I rewarded him for pee and poo. Small prize for poo

He read his potty books whenever he sat on the potty. It was the cutest thing. Like an old man with a newspaper lol

Once I took the diaper off on day 1 that was it

He never peed overnight either. He was dry for a month before I even started training

Good luck! 🍀

My son is 3 in July too and last summer he did a couple wees and a poo on it but the poop scared him and he won’t go back on since, we moved house so didn’t want lots of change happening for him but whenever I mention the potty he just says no mummy don’t want too tried sticker chart, chocolate if he goes on it the lot. I need to just have a few days off in a row and him be naked I think but he’s so so stubborn. He’s so advanced in everything else, apart from this hahaha xx

My son was the exact same!! We started in January and still haven’t really got there. But we found actually taking him straight to the toilet, we got the toilet ladder step seat, he loves it. We made a sticker chart to hang up next to the toilet in our bathroom that when he’s on the toilet he picks what sticker he’s going to use after he’s done it. It’s been super slow for us, we’re due baby number 2 in a couple weeks but I don’t want to put pressure on him. He’ll get there 🥺

My girl point blank refused the potty
She also won’t be naked and she won’t wear her pants but we brought the steps with the toilet seat and sometimes she will go pull her pull up down and sit on the toilet
We stopped the reward chart because the melt down of not having all the stickers for her to stick everywhere but the reward chart wasn’t worth it

The struggle is real 😫

Leave the potty available always. Start with every nappy change sitting him on the potty wether he does something or not, after a few days/week stay home for a few days and try nappy free and keep taking him potty every 30mins or so. He clearly knows how to do it so just stick with it and keep going. It can get worse too after a few weeks of going good. I’m against reward charts, claps hugs and praise are good enough. Exciting pants to try make him not want to wet them.

I have nothing useful to add as my daughter is the same. But someone tell me, what does it mean when people say this is the last chance? So will our kids be nappy wearing adults? Are there other nappy wearing adults whose parents missed the window? 😢😢

I potty trained my son over Christmas just before he was 2.5. We said goodbye nappies one morning and that was it. You have to commit and go all in.. the first few days are HARD (for me, the hardest part of parenting so far) but they get there super quickly!
We gave a little chocolate for successful wees and a sticker on his chart. When he got a certain number of stars he got a toy (a little car for him as he loves cars). Took the choc away for wee but kept for poo for a week or so.
If we went out for the first few weeks, I put a pull up on over the top of his pants. He would still feel wet but not a bit mess which upset him (obviously didn’t do this at home!)

Just go nappy free. Its not as bad as you may think. Just have lots of spare trousers and pants and some floor wipes to hand lol. But once they feel the wee going down their leg and how uncomfortable it is, they will want to use the potty quickly

Is this rude or correct

So I had a problem I am due an operation on Thursday and will leave my baby with my MIL, should I leave a list telling her how much milk she takes, thats it's every three to four hours and how to wash the bottles, I got eight bottles, I am having my tonsils out as for nearly two years, it took the doctors a year to refer me to a specialist and another year to see one by that point I was twenty weeks pregnant and I went into the appointment and told them this and I didn't want to go through the hassle of waiting, they looked at the problem and actually said if I wasn't pregnant they would've of taken them out at the weekend, well they know I had my baby and I am due to go in this Thursday for the operation, I am nervous. However I have to leave my baby with my mother law, I have no problem with this, three children herself and seven grandchildren, she's wonderful and my daughter loves her but obviously I do everything for my baby, feeding, washing etc while my husband works, well she looks after my baby while I have the operation and then she comes home to me and my husband, my husband knows he has to look after the baby but he's never made a bottle or washed them and the baby is struggling to settle with him at the moment wants mum, I was going to wear a really big t shirt on the run up so my husband can wear that to help and is it worth getting the bottles with the teats attached to help my husband or just give him the same list as my MIL, any other suggestions.
Don't worry I have a brilliant relationship with my husband mother and I am quite happy for her to have my daughter.

Am I a bad mom?

My partner and I have 2 children together (aged 3 and 1). He barely contributes to our household financially, leaving me to bear the financial stress alone. I have taken out 3 loans within the 5 years of being with him to help us get by. After our first child was born he quit his job to start his own dj business 🙄. So instead of working every day he now only works a few days a week at night and on occasion he does extra gigs for weddings, etc. On average he contributes $200-$300 each month. Mind you, daycare for 2 kids with subsidy is $950. We have rent, bills, debt, EVERYTHING. It's too much on my own and I'm drowning. He refuses to get an additional part time job, even a work from home position.
I don't want to break up our family but I've allowed him to ruin me financially. Now I can't even support myself and my kids. Am I a bad mom if I stay in this?

The Default Parent

How crazy it must be to wake up, shower, get ready for work, and just have your baby fed, dressed, and packed for daycare.

Or not know the last time they ate, or worry that they are getting enough vegetables and home cooked food (along side canned/prepped stuff, we are human).
Or not know what clothes fits them and what needs to be donated. Or not know their shoe size.

Don’t get me wrong. My husband is amazing and does way more than the average man (I think). He is in charge of bedtime, plays with her a ton, and talks to/teaches her about everyday things (like she is a little adult already). It’s just wild being the default parent sometimes.

Curious if there's any difference with this. Has your child/ you (if your child isn't school age yet) experienced bullying?

I know it's likely everywhere but I can't homeschool with my career and nervous about my daughter starting school.

Husband lusting online

Husband can’t stop lusting over thirst videos of women online. I’ve confronted him about it twice and he always says sorry but not long after I find something else. He just gets better at hiding what he watches. I’ve told him how it’s making me feel uncomfortable with myself and how I feel ugly but he continues. Clearly he’s addicted to having something new but I just hate the feeling. I don’t get why he has to watch it all the time and I hate how I look so much more now. They look nothing like me, typical big boobs, ass and curvy body with beautiful faces. I already felt insecure postpartum and this has heightened it so much more which he knows too. I feel devastated when I see them on his phone, he then realises I’m being off and when I go on his phone again it’s all cleared. I don’t even say anything now because what’s left for me to say.
