Screaming through feeds

How do people make it through feeds whilst their baby is screaming due to reflux? I find it so upsetting. We have started on meds and taking other measures to try and help but whilst these take time to hopefully work, how does everyone make it through a distressing feed? Thanks in advance.

The screaming stopped immediately once we started pepcid. Maybe see if you can get a different medication? And make sure baby doesn't need to burp!

This sounds very weird because my son also has severe reflux and colic and we’ve literally tried everything. But yesterday we set up the prep machine which I was adamant I was never going to use it. But with that + infacol + omeprazole + carobel, he’s like a new baby. Don’t get me wrong he has good and bad days and around 6-9pm he’s more fussy (which is normal)

Oh and I only recommend to try this and if it doesn’t work don’t do it, but with my son I also only sometimes burp him throughout the feed. I find when I take the bottle out of his mouth during the feed he screams even more, which allows him to not only swallow more air but builds pressure causing him to be sick. So I do allow him to drink the whole lot and then let him cry and get it all out at the end — with the infacol it makes the winding a faster process too so even though babies in obvious distress which we can’t completely stop, it goes away a lot faster💕

My little boy is on carobel and it’s been trial and error as he was on it before but very constipated! We’ve dropped his dose and looks like a happy medium as he’s not constipated. He’s still sick but not half as much and it definitely doesn’t bother him!
I found he screams once bottle is removed, so I replace with his dummy and then burp him. I found he just wants something to suck on and it works wonders, plus it seems to help get wind up quicker so if your little one has a dummy might be worth trying! X

Honestly, I didn't find anything that helped. We tried all the medication and nothing worked at the time. Now baby is nearly 11 months and his reflux is still there and he's "fussy" but otherwise fine and the screaming stopped at 5 months. It is honestly the most traumatic thing I've ever been through though. My main piece of advice is to reach out to your local perinatal mental health team as soon as you start to feel you're struggling. I put it off for months because I thought PND was just hormonal and that once baby stopped screaming I'd be fine. But that absolutely isn't the case, reflux can be so traumatic and can definitely cause PND and PTSD, so don't be afraid to reach out for help!

Which ideaology do you wish would disappear?

1. Toys have genders

3. Boys don't cry
4. You can sleep train a newborn

Couldn't fit an option for all of them

Changing diaper

I have a question.. do y’all change your babies diapers during nap time while being out? My baby fell asleep and needs a diaper change.. but he struggled to fall asleep and I feel so bad waking him up to change his diaper because I know he won’t fall back asleep

Am I wrong for not covering up while breastfeeding in my own house?

I am a single mom who is breastfeeding. When I’m in public, yeah I cover up because that’s my personal preference. But when I am at home alone, I am just fully top exposed. No care in the world.

Well my soon to be ex husband came waltzing in unannounced. No heads up or nothing. (No he don’t live there anymore) as soon as he walks in, he sees me topless breastfeeding our new born son. As soon as he sees, he says, “wtf is wrong with you? I don’t wanna see that shit. Cover up!” I had no idea he was coming over. Otherwise I would’ve covered up. But yet again, it’s my house. You didn’t tell me you were coming through. So if you don’t like what you see, there’s the door. Am I wrong for not covering up while breastfeeding in my own house?

Do you think incognito posts making assumptions or comments about breastfeeding are just trying to take digs at breastfeeding Mums?

Like I'm talking about present and past posts, for instance the one where they said it's weird to breastfeed a 1-2 year old or talking about Mums being addicted to breastfeeding... Yadda yadda yadda. Do you think they do that to try and slyly take digs at Mums who breastfeed?

Hurts to have sex

I'm almost 6 weeks postpartum and have already gotten the okay from my obgyn to have sex again but me and my husband tried and it hurt really bad, I didn't start feeling or anything but it hurt to sit after as well (we did not continue when it started hurting) any advice? Me and my husband's sex drives are high and I miss being intimate with him but don't want to undo any healing I have accomplished

I’m grieving the mother-in-law I wish I had

Anyone with me?

I’m sad because I’m mourning the person I wish she was and wished we had a relationship.

We are no contact for the second and final time. I can’t help but think she’s missing out on her son and our first baby (never met our baby and don’t even know if she knows about her).

I just wished she was different and it could all be happy.
