Hi! My glucose test is around the corner & I’m wondering what option other moms went with & how it worked out? I hear you have the regular glucose test, the more natural Fresh Test or the at home finger pricking option.

i wish they did the finger prick option AHA at my ob but i take my glucose test friday i did my first one at 18w & now im doing it again because im a severe anemic

I do not do the standard glucose test (didn’t with my previous two and won’t with this one!) I have them check my normal levels! If something were to show alarming like my A1C or my actual level, I’d opt straight for the 3 hour test and I plan to use grape juice as that’s the highest sugar juice I’ve found!

Most offices won't do the finger prick unless the glucose test is contraindicated due to other health concerns because its not actually a reliable way to diagnose diabetes. A1C is more reliable, but not great for pregnancy because of the rapid changes that occur. This is why the OGTT is the recommended course of action for the majority of pregnant people.
The test really isn't that bad. I've done the 1 hr twice, a 3 hr, and a 2 hr. It's been fine every time.

Just do the normal test

So if you actually read that it says the dose for pregnant individuals is __ and the dose for non-pregnant individuals is something else.
If you can show a picture with a whole sentence saying it’s not safe for pregnant/breastfeeding I’d be happy to read it 😂

I have mines soon but what are they even doing? Like Whats the procedure?
