Would you make a birthday registry for your kids?

My 2 sons are having their 3rd and 4th birthday together. Everyone’s asking what to get them and last year I told 2 people the same thing. I don’t want to do that this year. But I don’t know if it’s rude to make a registry or if people would feel some type of way.

I’d be pretty grossed out about that

Avatar

I’ve made one and sent it to those who asked for gift ideas for my toddler.

Avatar

I made one but only sent it to this who asked, I brought the rest off there

I’m super picky about toys for kids and I’ve thought about this- I think you could give ideas when asked, especially to grandparents and other family members. For a party setting I’d just put “no gifts please” on the invite, or ask everyone for books or something instead.

Avatar

I’ve done this but only for family members who kept asking me over and over what to get him. They appreciated that I made it easier for them.

I personally love the idea. And it makes it easy on everyone. You and everyone who can see it knows what has been purchased, it leaves guessing to a minimum. I would hate to get something for one of my nephews just to find out that someone else got the same thing. Or getting them something that I don’t know if they’ll actually like it or not.

However.. gifts are never required! But if they would like to get something then I would prefer it be from the list.

Make a registry and call it “suggestions” or something.

I love the registry idea. I hate buying gifts for other people’s kids because I never know what they like, what they need, what they already have! If I don’t have a registry, I’ll do a gift card. As a mother, I hate receiving gifts that my LO does not need or don’t care about! So yes to the registry and like many others said, share with those who ask or close friends/family who will not feel “offended” about it.

We dont do parties and we dont do gifts either (they get enough throughout the year) instead they get a birthday fund! That fund gets spent on whatever kind of trip they decide on 1 long trip or multiple small trips. If they get gifts before the trip(s) I ask that it be something helpful for the trip like outfits. If we are going to the beach then a new bucket set, or camping - camping gear. Etc, etc.

This has helped a lot with birthdays. How the fund works is anything you would've put towards a present, just put into the fund. $10 toy? she now has $10 for her trip instead. $200 for decorations? Nah, put that towards the fund and go do something fun!

I love when people do this

I’ve never done it, but I love when people do. Makes it easy.

I did it this year for Christmas and I kept the same registry for their birthdays. I add things to it at all different price points and then people can grab whatever they want from the registry or if they see something similar when they’re out they can be confident it’s a good gift. I used evite for the invitations and it lets you link an Amazon registry.
I got great feedback from my whole family and everyone we invited to the birthdays.

What about having the boys pick a charitable organization or the zoo or library and ask everyone to make a donation instead? I always feel like theres too many toys and it always feel like overload.

Avatar

My friend did it but i just sent it to my house so I can bring it to thw party.. I just put a gift request list on my party invitations

Avatar

I make an Amazon list and send to family because I’m sick of the “what do we get him” but idgaf if anyone uses it at all

Avatar

My sister in law has Amazon wishlists for her children. If someone says “idk what to get your child” then she’ll tell them about the wishlist.

Avatar

I loveeeee when people send me a gift list! I want to buy something the person wants!

Avatar

Registry yes, but Be prepared to get things you didn’t ask for lol happened to us

Avatar

A registry is a good idea. Put a few different price points on there, it makes it easy to shop for the kids. Buying something they actually want.

Avatar

I only give a list when asked. My mum will normally ask for one or ideas. That said when my nephew does a list my brother never checks it or adds on to it and it’s usually very expensive games which is really annoying.

Avatar

There’s an app called things to get me. It’s so good

Avatar

i think it’s a sweet idea that’ll make (especially non-parent) guests feel more secure in what they buy and prevent mass-returns - maybe just also make it clear the registry is there as a help tool and you’d be happy for guests to do their own thing if they already have ideas x

Avatar

I make an Amazon wishlist for both boys so people can order from there or at least have ideas. For my second son’s first birthday, I told people no toys (because we are drowning in them lol) and instead said books, snacks, footie pajamas, and snack containers. It was perfect lol

Baby seats for trolleys, high chairs etc.

Has anyone got one of these from a brand they recommend? Not sure if Coco seat is a UK brand or what it's like as a company?

Thanks in advance!

Nappy leaks at night—what brands or tips work?

My 12 week old uses Aldi Mamia size 3 nappies during the day with no problems, but at night both Mamia and Pampers Premium Protection size 3 have leaked after a few hours. Has anyone got tips for nighttime leaks or recommendations for other brands or strategies?

Sleep regression or upping daytime intake?

My baby is 15 weeks on Saturday. He used to sleep 9ish-6am with only 1 wake for a feed. He’s now ready for bed at 7/7:30 and sleeping until 7am but waking for 3 feeds! He had dropped to 6 5oz bottle but has now added in an extra one at 11pm. I’ve tried him with some 6oz bottles in the day but he struggled with them. What’s going on? Do I need to ride it out or try and up his daytime intake?

Formula advice

I was just curious if anyone has switched formulas. My 12 week old baby has been on aptamil 1 since birth but due to crap mat pay and the prices of formula nowadays I was wondering if anyone can advise if they switched and (or) if they've used aptamil and changed; which brand did they switch to. Thanks mummas
