Just wondered if anyone could share their home birth experience. I’m based in Stockport and I’m registered with Stepping Hill Hospital. I just wondered how it all worked??
My first born I had in hospital and I am just really not wanting to do it again at the hospital. I want to be at home with all of my comforts and I also want to avoid having to be on a ward for hours after labour. I wondered how it all worked in terms of checks like the hearing tests etc that they usually do on the ward after?
Any info will be super appreciated 🥰

I had a lovely home birth summer 2024, for all the same reasons as you. I was also registered at Stepping Hill.
When she was born, they did all the initial newborn checks at home. But I had to go into Stepping Hill the day after the birth because I needed the Anti D injection, they did all the newborn tests, hearing check, etc while I was there.
I think you'd have to go in to have the hearing check, but I think the other checks can be done at home.
I fully recommend home birth. Happy to answer any questions on prep or anything. Just ask.

Ahh thank you for sharing Charlie 💙
That’s really helpful info and I’m glad to hear you had a positive experience 🫶🏼
