i’m currently 37 weeks pregnant! i was meant to have a scan on Tuesday as i have high blood pressure meaning i have a scheduled c section booked in for 39+3 (27th of April) however i arrived at my appointment 10 mins late as there was really bad traffic (and i live an hour away as it from the hospital) so we had to reschedule. they called me today and said they have rescheduled it for the 20th of April at 8am. only issue is this is only 1 week exactly before my planned c section. and this scan was to see if we needed to move the date forward due to my blood pressure continuing to increase so having a scan at 38+3 just seems a bit pointless. also if my blood pressure is high it means there could be more complications in my C section such as higher chance of bleeding out so i’d need to take blood pressure tablets but im worried a week isn’t enough time to sort my blood pressure out and i don’t know what to do.

i would a) talk to your provider about your concerns. b) if it's something you think is really concerning, most hospitals will admit you straight to the maternity ward where they can check you there.
regardless of when you're seen, Ask About Magnesium with your C-section. (any provider worth their salt should already have this planned, but it's literally designed to help with blood pressure and hemorrage risk)

(continued) NGL, magnesium knocks you on your back and you will probably be out of it (i was asleep for basically 2 days post c-section), but imo if you're already concerned about bp, etc., it's worth it

I had blood pressure issues and my baby was born a month early because of it. I was told any issues after 20 weeks I was to go right to L&D and they would be able to tell me more. I also had to have weekly non stress tests......
Editing to add that i am in Canada so I know things can be different here than some other places!

I also had high blood pressure at 37 weeks. My mom let me borrow her blood pressure monitor (I think you can buy one for $50 at CVS) and I took my blood pressure regularly. Thankfully, it never got too bad, but if it had then I would have gone straight to the hospital. Buying one might give you some peace of mind, since you can keep an eye on your blood pressure at home and see if it gets worse.

I had high blood pressure, I wasn’t medicated but did end up going for c section due to reduced movements. I believe if they start you on meds they take effect pretty quickly, and to be fair they didn’t even really acknowledge it with my c section at all. I’m not sure where you are but you could potentially get a private scan. Here in the uk they are about £100. I would also speak to your midwife/dr about everything and push for a sooner date as the scheduling person might not realise your specific needs time wise.
