Glucose testing and Gestational diabetes...

Hey mamas šŸ¤Ž
I just wanted to share a little of what I’m going through and see if anyone else can relate…
I recently did my glucose testing and my results came back kind of… borderline. I didn’t fully ā€œfail,ā€ but I did have one high number, and now I’m being watched a little more closely. On top of that, my baby is measuring a bit ahead (I’m 23 weeks and was told baby is around 1.5 lbs), so naturally my mind is going there…
I’ll be honest — I’m feeling a little anxious about gestational diabetes. My mom had diabetes and dealt with a lot of complications, so it’s hard not to think about that.
The crazy part is, I’m not really a sweets person. I don’t eat a lot of candy or sugary stuff, but I do eat things like bread, rice, pasta, pastries here and there… so now I’m learning it’s not just about ā€œsugar,ā€ it’s about how the body processes carbs too.
Right now I’m just trying to stay calm, learn, and make small changes where I can without stressing myself out.
Has anyone else had: • borderline glucose results?
• a baby measuring a little big early on?
• or just the fear around gestational diabetes in general?
I’d really love to hear your experiences — good, bad, or reassuring šŸ¤Ž

It was a bit of a bummer being told I had to do the glucose test 'because I'm over 40' when the other women in my antenal class (probably in their 20s and 30s) didn't seem to have to. But I wasn't worried about the outcome of the test itself... Throughout the pregnancy I ate as healthily as I could, very little sugar. I was told that the diabetes doesn't come from diet tho. It's hormonal. Thankfully my test results were fine and I didn't have to go back and redo it.

I completely understand...They've marked me down for being obese and having gestational diabetes...šŸ˜šŸ˜’šŸ¤”šŸ‘€ but I haven't had to get on any meds. I just have been monitoring my BG 4xs a day, and logging what I've eaten. My biggest problem is probably carbs, we eat alot of bread, pasta, and rice... not a fan of sugar or salt for that matter. But I am also seeing my diabetes counselor often as well. So far, I can recognize when my BG will be high (like eating pancakes with regular syrup) and knowing where I made the mistake. My doctors have told me that I'm doing good. I am still emotional about it, but I am trying to do what I can.
