Just wanted to share for any mama’s-to- be who are feeling apprehensive about labour and giving birth. I certainly was but ended up having a lovely experience so wanted to share some positive vibes ❤️
Baby girl came 8 days early earlier this week, which was the first surprise after everything I’d seen and been told about first babies being late! I started having contractions at around 3am in the morning but wasn’t really aware that’s what they were at that point. But they ramped up very quickly throughout the morning. I kept myself busy at home, (waxed and tinted my eyebrows which killed a good amount of time 😂) kept calm and was getting everything ready.
By 11.30am I knew I needed to go to the hospital, even though they kept trying to put me off going in. I was 9cm dilated by the time I got in and was moved straight to a room. I’d expressed an interest in the birthing pool as a pain relief option but wasn’t too fussed. However a room with one was available and the midwife really encouraged me to get in (although at one point they didn’t think it would fill up in time!) I got in and was in active labour/pushing for an hour and a half and she was here! So glad I did as the pool definitely helped with the pain. If it’s an option for you I’d 100% go for it.
Wishing everyone smooth journeys and hope this has been some positivity among all the scary stories you’ve probably been hearing..! 🥰
