Career vs work life balance

Hi ladies, how do you stay career driven postpartum bearing the childcare needs? Has anyone stepped down from a senior role to a more junior role postpartum? I’m considering it for a better work life balance.

Yes I've taken a step down and it's relieved a lot of pressure. I went back to me senior role after MAT leave for about a year before the step down, but I'm also considering a change of career.

Things feel so different PP. I don't have the enthusiasm or drive that I did before. It's hard to admit, because I worked hard to get where I was, but it doesn't fit me or my life at this time

I haven’t taken a step down, but I also haven’t tried to progress. Sometimes I feel like I’ve stalled, but my priorities just changed completely when I had kids and I have no regrets. My current role does not require anything outside of my contracted working hours, I was able to reduce my hours to have more time at home, and I feel my work/life balance has been great.

Everyone is different, and you have to decide what’s right for you. Like Jade said above, I worked hard to get where I am and prior to having kids I had more ambitions, but honestly my focus just shifted and work became more of a means to an end 🤷🏼‍♀️
