Iron supplements

My iron has dropped since my last blood test so they’ve prescribed me ferrous sulfate 200mg twice a day. What’s peoples experience been like with these? Any positive stories?! Nervous for bad side effects

I have not had any negative side effects on my side, but I need to take it once every two days, rather than twice a day, so I recognise it might be different!

I tried it and I became really dizzy, and stomach ache (I took it after lunch). I don’t want to take it anymore. I’m trying spatone the one with apple juice in it, and it’s better no side effects.. I’ll ask midwife to do the bloods to see if it’s improving something

I tried spatone after reacting badly to iron tablets in my first pregnancy. It hasn’t worked for me unfortunately. But the GP recommended I take the iron tablets every other day (new studies suggest it’s just as effective) and I’ve found it way more tolerable. Maybe see if your GP or midwife would support this approach too? I wouldn’t recommend doing it without checking, but it really has made a big difference.

I am on Ferrous Fumarate, 210mg, twice a day.
I take Vit.D gummies and orange to help them to be absorbed but also to have Kafir regularly!!
TMI but expect, hard black poo that's not easy to pass.. you'll need lots of fibre in your diet!
