I returned to work today after nearly a year maternity and was expected to return to normal as if I had not been off for 11 months. I work in MH so going in full steam was completely overwhelming. Ive felt acutely stressed all day. I didn’t have time to eat anything all day because I was having to catch up and keep up.
I cried the whole way home and when I got home , tried to hold it together but ended up crying in front of my girls.
I did not feel supported one bit. Its a well paid job with a lot of responsibility but since having my girls, I have lost all drive for what I do and would prefer to work somewhere with no responsibility. We just cant afford for me to do it as the breadwinner 😞.

I’m so sorry:(
this is a terrible experience and feeling to have and feeling no support when you get home is even worse feeling honestly

First day back is tough, no matter how much time you have off.
Often times mothers just don’t get enough support or people don’t understand what support is even needed. Don’t be afraid to be vocal about what you need. This is HARD. Way easier said than done.
Tell your partner, family, co-workers what you need. You have to be your own advocate right now. Hang in there!

Can you postpone the job for another 3 months? There is no support. Make sure that at least you're treated kindly or respectfully and no one is taking advantage. Being in your postpartum state makes you more fragile, and people can take advantage. If it really doesn't feel right, either take a break or find another job. In the meantime, continue your vitamins and take good care of yourself. See how it goes.
