Has anyone struggled with getting carpel tunnel with a newborn?

My LO is 8 weeks and I got carpel tunnel in my wrist that I mainly use to hold him. It’s agonising and I get pins, needles and numbness every time I hold him. I have a wrist support that I wear occasionally and I’m trying to alternate arms. It’s making holding and feeding difficult. If you’ve had it, how long did it take to go?

Hiya I have carpel tunnel from work & having a baby definitely didn’t help 🙈
I use deep heat and a wrist strap daily but since having my little one I’ve been scared to use deep heat so I invested in a nursing pillow to help with feeds and on the days it’s too painful I run my wrist under a warm tap for 10 mins, I find this helps ease the pain.
My little one is now 10 months old- feeds are a lot easier as he now holds the bottle himself.
Personally I think it’s finding what helps you the most, switching arms is definitely the best way to start but I’d have a look at getting a nursing pillow 🩷

Are you sure it's not de Quervain's also known as "mothers thumb"? I had this with my first born from holding him too much - I wore a support during the night and it took maybe 1-2 weeks of wearing it and using my other hand and it healed well x

I got mum's wrist from my chunky boy. I got a massage, a hip carrier and actively stopped putting pressure on it (leaning on it during floor playing, hip holding on that side). Went away about 2 weeks after I clicked what it was and started to manage it

A chiropractor showed me a trick to prevent further pain. Make a fist when holding baby and try to keep baby on the forearm instead of the wrist

Yes, i had it last few months of pregnancy and about 4 months pp with my 1st until it really reduced. Never flared up as bad with my 2nd.

I used a wrist brace at night and in day .

It never really went away fully tho and I still sonetimes get pins and needles in my forearms but nowhere near as bad and not painful. I type and write nost of the day.

My grip is definitely weakened and that's not recovered but doesnt cause massive issues. I just cant open tight jars
