6 day old only sleeps on chest at night

My little pickle is a great sleeper in the day and will snooze in his nest/cot, but come night time all he wants is to sleep on my chest. I’m not sure if it’s because of his preference/needs or if I’m unable to make him comfortable enough.

I’m getting good rest with him on my chest but would prefer if he would settle in the cot (sans nest). We swaddle at night and had a good-ish night a couple nights ago but can’t seem to replicate it.

He’s exclusively breastfed, nearly back at birth weight (120g to go) and feeds really well and regularly. Any advice?

Just ride it out for a little bit longer. I know that seems terrible advice but at such a young age they want to be close to you as everything feels so strange and it’s totally normal. My little boy has just turned 8 weeks and will now sleep in his crib and moses basket with no problem at all. I would say he started being happier and more comfortable with that from 2 weeks. I remember being hard on myself that first couple of weeks feeling like there was no routine or consistency with anything but reminded myself he was just so young and it soon passes.☺️ Something I do now when he’s unsettled is put my dressing gown on as he likes the soft feeling and once he’s asleep I use his soft blanket and keep it up against the side of his cheek as I’m transferring him almost tricking him it’s me 😅 Wait for a few minutes for him to relax (I swear sometimes stood over him this feels like an hour 😅) and once he looks in a deeper sleep I move the blanket so he’s safe. You’re doing amazing! 🥰 xx

Same as above ! It’s terrifying when they’re so teenie tiny but your contact is what keeps them feeling safe. Really tough on you too because your sleep is so light but trust in your body! You will also be syncing your feeds during this time too so soon enough you’ll be in a lovely sleep pattern together - you’re doing amazing !
I found lullaby trust and safe sleep 7 good sources of information ❤️
