My 2 year old has very recently had an accident and I thought maybe this has caused him to want us to carry him and stay in the room with him to sleep (he would previously be put in his cot after bedtime routine and stories and we would tell him to lie down and sleep and he would). Ive recently had baby no 2 and she is now 7 weeks old…wondering if this has caused him to be emotional at bedtime instead? Is anybody else experiencing this and how are you coping?

It’s very normal for toddlers to regress after a baby is born and almost become a “baby” themselves. My daughter is nearly 2.5 years old and I have a 3 month old son at home.
Since he’s been born my daughter has gone back slightly as during the night instead of the 1 wake up she’s gone back to having 2 sometimes even 3 wake ups and she sometimes asks my partner to sit with her or cuddle her while she goes back to sleep. She’ll copy him sucking his fingers and she’ll do it herself. She wants carried a lot more mainly by me when am holding her brother.
This is all very normal according to my midwife and should only last a couple of weeks as it is a huge change for your toddler having a new baby around and not having your full attention 24/7 as obviously he needs to share it with his baby sister x
