My in-laws are planning to visit us next year which I am really getting anxious. Did not really have any good experience with them whenever there's a chance we got to visit them. They have crossed boundaries and are overbearing especially after we had a baby.
Now that my husband's family would like to visit us, I dont feel comfortable them staying at our apartment. It is my only safe space and allowing them to stay will mean, they will be visiting us more often (knowing they have a free place to stay) which i don't really like as I totally loose my sanity whenever they're involved. I also do not have any village which means I can only get my quiet time at night and having them around will really stress me out.
I told my husband, they can visit but they have to look for an airbnb or hotel. Am I being selfish? If you were in my situation, how will you do it.

You are not being selfish at all. Access to your children is a privilege and not a right. Idc what anyone says, your peace is the most important thing and you needing to keep your home your safe place is completely within your rights. They can see your kids, with your approval and on your terms and they have to be okay with what your family needs.
We used to let people into our house but found that needing 2 weeks to recoup after was not worth it ever. If they wanna see the babies, they can shell out whatever if they want to see them that much lol
