Cervical cerclage

Hi all … I’m looking for some advice for if anyone else has experienced this. My previous birth was premature and therefore this pregnancy I’ve had scans every 2 weeks to watch my cervix measurements to make sure it’s all good. Today’s scan revealed it is shortening and therefore they need to intervene. My two options for treatment are a progesterone pessary (insert it every night until 34 weeks) or a cervical cerclage (see my cervix shut). The success rate of the pessary is 40%. The success rate of the cerclage is 90% but comes with risks as it is a surgery. The doctors said I sit in a grey area and it’s not clear which treatment I should have. The problem is I can’t try the pessary and then if it doesn’t work choose the cerclage because they won’t do it after 24 weeks pregnant. I will be 24 weeks on Tuesday so I don’t have any time to make the choice. Can anyone give advice? Thanks in advance, a stressed out mama

Did I cause my emergency c section?

Hey.
My wee one is now 11 weeks old and I feel I have recovered well from my c section but I cant seem to shake this guilt that I have.
I was induced due to high blood pressure and the start of pre eclampsia. I was against an induction and would have preferred a planned c section but the Drs convinced me to go ahead with the balloon induction. As soon as it was inserted I was in a lot of pain (especially in my back) but it was to be kept in 24 hours. Once removed I was only 1cm dilated and they broke my waters. They wanted to put me on the hormone drip and I refused as I wanted to see if contractions came on without it and they did. 4 hours later, I was contracting every 3 minutes and had the epidural but the contractions continued intensifying and my baby's heart rate was dropping dramatically, which is why I was rushed away for an emergency c section. Im wondering if I'd had the hormone drip, would the outcome be different? Would I have dilated faster and been able to have a vaginal birth? I don't know if I made the right decision not having the hormone drip. Anyone else's experience similar to mine?

Self referral - Badger Notes

I recently found out I’m expecting my second so did a self referral in order to have a midwife and sort out the booking appointment. I made the referral on the 3rd April so taking out the days for Easter, it has now been 8 working days since making it.

How quickly or slowly did you guys get the first contact from the midwife team?

This is completely different from when I had my first as I just phoned up and got a call back from them within 24 hours.

Having to go incognito as no one knows I’m pregnant yet.

How are you getting scans so early?

I’m 6 weeks pregnant today and don’t have my first NHS booking appointment until 8 weeks, with the first scan scheduled for 11 weeks.

I love reading posts in this group, but I’ve noticed some mums are getting scans from as early as 7 weeks (sometimes even earlier!).

It would be really helpful to have more information about these early scans (if you are comfortable sharing!) to help those of us who feel anxious and would like reassurance before the NHS-recommended timings.

C section

Guys my C section is in 10 days and i’m soooo scared, please talk anything c section to me such as your stories, how you calmed your anxieties, things i will need to take with me, literally anything, im absolutely terrified!

Positive elective stories please 🙏

My elective c section is booked for tomorrow at 41 weeks following an extremely traumatic birth with my son 3 and a half years ago that ended in an emergency c section. I've had a lot of therapy to deal with this and decided to try for a vbac this time, but to book an elective in case she goes overdue.

However, now I'm here I'm freaking out. I sat down to read all the info they've sent me last night and it's triggered something because I've gone into full on fight or flight mode, everything in my body is screaming at me to run. I can't even think about it without crying, I've cried all night and woken up crying this morning.

Please send me your positive elective c section stories, I need to fill my brain with positivity right now and try to get into a good headspace for tomorrow 😥
